Healthy living
How healthy is your lifestyle? Having recently read an article in a magazine, mine is nowhere near as healthy as I thought. Lots of the things I enjoy are listed as extremely bad for you, (more so than ever it seems!) Red meat, takeaways, chocolate, sunshine, caffeine, salt, fried foods, alcohol, blah blah, and so the long list goes on. So after careful consideration, I think it is time I made some changes...as from today...I have decided to give up...reading!!
Seriously though, Don't you think these Health Boffins go a little overboard these days?. Using our common sense and taken in moderation, surely these things are not going to kill us?

I also agree to some of what your saying. However the chickens and beef that our grandparents ate is not the same as what we eat. They inject these animals with all kinds of growth hormones and etc. Also the way food is processed and preserved has allot to do with it. I try to eat right 9 months out of the year. The other three no holding back. So far it has worked well for me.

Re: Healthy living
I pretty much listen to what my body is telling me. If i crave steak, it usually means i need more iron. If I crave milk or icecream, it means I need calcium. You get the idea.
Where my meal options are limited, I try to eat as many veggies as possible and drink milk too. Balance is good in doing this too.

Re: Healthy living
After being ill this year have had to make big diet changes. Cant eat bread at all, have to avoid wheat and fat.
But the consultant at the hospital told me not to cut it out of my diet completely. I could have small amounts, as you have all said, in moderation.
I think the food we buy these days cannot be compared to the food our fathers or forefathers ate due to the amount of processing our food goes through and the additives that are given to livestock before they have been slaughtered.
Due to my change in diet I have dropped 2 dress sizes and now weigh the same as I did 12 years ago!!, so maybe, the additives aren't such a good thing.
But, I am still of the opinion, a little of what you fancy does you good........

Re: Healthy living
about 7 yrs ago i had an accident. Broke 3 ribs, clavicle, cheek bone and concussion. Couldn't exercise grrrr, I love playing basketball running and lifting(you'd never know it LOL) So I went on a diet called ,body for life,
6 small meals a day handfull of protien, handful of carb and at least 2 vegies a day, NO FAT and 6-8 bottles of water a day. 6 days a week. I lost 10 lbs in lil over a week and in 2 weeks went from tight 36 inch waist to loose 34.
Best part of it I never felt better in my life. On the 7th day I ate anything I wanted, the following day I felt like shit, very run down and lethargic.
So I guess there is something to it but I gotta have my Ice cream or juicy hamburger or chocolate once in a while. It's not going to kill you.

Something else too, our grandparents had different work ethics. Hard physical labor from can-see to can't-see was their exercise. There is a big difference than going to the gym and working out.

For the most part the physical labor our parents did, doesn't exist anymore. For that matter forget our parents just im my lifetime, it's like night and day.

Six steps to healthy living:
Exercise: Walk to the liquor store
Fruit: Put lime in your Corona
Veggies: Put put celery in your Bloody Marys
Fresh Air: Drink outdoors on the bar patio
Eliminate Stress: Tell jokes and laugh
Rest: Pass out
If you keep your alcohol levels up, Flu germs can't get you!!!
