Biological rhythms...
Sometimes it's not so easy for me to adjust to keeping different hours, waking up too late or too early, not getting enough sleep.
Sometimes it's the season changes that affect me somewhat,
During the summer the days are long, but winter hits and there never seems to be enough hours of sunshine!
So..what about you? Do you require some sort of minimum amount of sleep to function well? Do you get the blues during the shorter days of winter?
Maybe you're a night shift worker, was it difficult for you to adjust?

Re: Biological rhythms...
It was difficult for me to adjust to long days and short nights when I first joined the Air Force. Eventually I was so drained that I didn't even have time to worry about if I was going to be falling asleep soon or not. Before I knew it, I was already waking up for the next morning. Now it's second nature to me, I can never sleep in past 9am on any given day. I feel like the whole day is wasted on nothing otherwise.

Oh yes...even if I desperatley need to catch up on lost sleep, I can't really. I'm up about the same time every morning. If I try to roll over and go back to sleep, I just end up with my mind racing about all the things that I could do, or have to do...

Re: Biological rhythms...
Yup, there's always, always something to do when you're just laying down and your mind is racing. There's no way to just relax and ease back into a blissful sleep. No matter how unimportant the task is, I always find myself getting up to complete it.

Re: Biological rhythms...
When I first started driving a big truck, was not used to the hours at all, I was exhausted all the time. Now I usually go with 2-3 hours sleep per 24 hour period, with one long sleep of 10 hours every week or so, sounds weird, works for me. The worst part is that sometimes I'm required to sleep during the day depending on my logbook, but I can't sleep in daylight, I have blackout curtains in the truck, but I still consciously know that sunlight is out there and I want to see it.

Re: Biological rhythms...
Ah to have a full night, uninterrupted sleep! I've been so used to little catnaps for so long now I'm not sure my brain would be happy with that much sleep.

Before retirement I was up at 4 am every morning and can't get out of the habit after so many years. It sucks !!!!!! I truely envy anyone who can get 8 hrs of straight sleep

Re: Biological rhythms...
I think I'm affected by too much light (summer, and also too much dark (winter). Equal amounts of both are what I need, but I don't believe it will happen just because I've asked for it in this forum. So yes, extremes can affect my bio-rythmns and behaviour.

Re: Biological rhythms...
I would get "cabin fever" so bad in the winter, if I didn't make a point of bundling up, no matter how cold it gets and spending a hour or two outside in the sunshine.
