Bringing your work home with you?
Do you? Do you physically bring work from your job home with you, files and papers, do you get and make calls at home long after you've "clocked out" for the day?
How about emotionally and mentally, do you find your head cluttered with work related issues while at home? Do you ever lose sleep because of something going on with your job or workplace?

Re: Bringing your work home with you?
I'm always writing myself to do lists for the next day, and things go around my head until i drop off to sleep, and when i awake up, there they are just waiting in my head

Re: Bringing your work home with you?
Unfortunately, I'm "on call" for my work because I work with a volunteer group they call me alot after hours. I do make lists and things run through my head constantly trying to make deadlines and make certain things happen at the office. Some day when I replace the assitant things will be better so I don't have to make certain that person is doing their job.

Re: Bringing your work home with you?
Due to the type of work I do coupled with the fact am a supervisor, plus the fact I live in a rural area to which I am prone to get calls from folks just being plan old nosey, its a little difficult NOT to bring my work home.

Re: Bringing your work home with you?
Because my software is being used by hotels, clubs and shops and they pay me a yearly maintenance fee, I'm on call 24/7.
I've spent a few Saturday nights talking people through rebooting the EPOS software because they can't serve anyone, just one of the joys of being self-employed, I guess.

Re: Bringing your work home with you?
I would trade with all of you in a heart beat. I tend to take home to work with me. Always wondering when I'm going to get that call that I need to hurry home, wondering if I'm going to have a home when I do get there as hubby, more often than not doesn't have full mental capacity and tends to leave the burner on when he decides to "cook" something or the times that he's actually set the microwave on fire when he decides that popcorn needs to be cooked for 10-15 mins, but I think the worst fear is when my hand reaches for that doorknob and not knowing for sure what I'm going to find when the door opens.

Wow Still, I remember those days with my Mom, I can't even imagine how difficult it must be with your spouse.

Re: Bringing your work home with you?
I also bring the work home. But I try not to let it get to me. I never know if one of people from work will show up at me door, that won't be pretty, or if I'll run to them while our shopping. One of co-workers happen along a person from work, well let's just say that things didn't go so well. He ended up going to the hospital to get checked out, and the person from work, got a free ride to the hospital and then to jail.

Re: Bringing your work home with you?
Yes and no LOL, Yes because at times I do longer trips and stay in the cab of my truck overnight so in essence it is home and no, when I park my truck in the yard, I walk away and leave it all behind until next trip.

Re: Bringing your work home with you?
I take home some paper work, but it's just to keep track of monthly expenses.
When I take the truck home to clean on it some, the park manager bitches, then I have to remind him that they never trimmed the tree nor sprayed for weeds where I wanted them to.

Re: Bringing your work home with you?
I agree, you don't get any thanks for taking work home with you, so it should be kept at work. Spending time with family and friends and quality time for yourself is important.
