Notoriety
Once our time has gone, would you like to be remembered, famous or not.
What would you want to be remembered for? a deed or a characteristic?
Me, I would not like to be famous cos I love my privacy and yes, I would like to be remembered for my kindness, my loyalty and my sense of fun. The deed I would like remembered is saving the life of my friends son when he was 2...He'll be 18 this weekend...

Re: Notoriety
Not that it'll actually matter to me once I'm dead.--
I'm thinkin' I'll be remembered for my kindness and especially my humor.--Even though it seems to aggravate some.
Not sure why.

Re: Notoriety
I forget who said this but a quote that sticks in my mind is "It's nice to be important but more important to be nice" and my own personal favorite from the dali lama "I don't need fancy temples or complicated philosophies, my temple is my body and my simple philosophy is kindness" My life has improved greatly since i tried to do this daily. It's so easy to be kind.
I personally would rather have my memory etched in someones heart rather than a plaque or piece of stone. The effect you have on someones heart lives through generations and others hearts. Aplaque gets replaced, broken or put in a storage. Give me nice and kind anyday over notoriety.
Now CJROXIE, why did you do this, you knew the motormouth would ramble on

Re: Notoriety
I will be remembered as the first woman to play professional sports with the Cincinnati Reds, Dallas Cowboys, and the Bulls. And the neighborhood kids will still be in awe of my skateboarding skills..at least until they stop laughing.
Seriously..I'll be remembered as the best Mom and Grammy in the whole world..and that's all that matters.

Re: Notoriety
I have done a number of things in my life that I have been proud of and some I have not. I have been proud to serve my country two times in my life, once in 1971 as a 18 yr old in Vietnam and then again currently in Afghanistan. Some folks may disagree with both wars but my father had a saying and I will alway remember it. "If your going to talk the talk then you had better walk the walk or your just another sheep." I have always tried to teach my children this and respect for life and people who deserve it. I hope I will be remembered for being true to my family, my country and myself. Another great man once said this and I have always thought it to be very true "The only thing for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" Sir Edmunde Burke said that. I will always agree with his words and I teach my children the same. I hope they will remember me for this.

Amen to this....a year in VN and a year in Korea in the 60s taught me the real meaning of duty, honor, family, and country. I can live with that legacy.
