Male & Female Movies & TV
After reading some of the reviews and speculation for Transformers before I saw it something kept jumping out at me, so I had to ask. They kept saying that boys would love it, but girls had never been real transformers fans.
I beg to differ, lol, I was a HUGE fan, been waiting for the movie since I heard about it 2 years ago and loved the original toons as well.
Now for the question. Do you believe girls and boys are predispositioned to like or dislike movies or tv based on their gender?

Re: Male & Female Movies & TV
I thind it is society based, it's based on the way we are raised. I for one love chick flicks as they are called yet i have male friends who scoff at them and knowing them , they are not very secure in their manhood. They're dads are the type to say if you like that, you must be a sissy. I have been tol it must be the woman in me LOL. So be it , they're loss I personally have no preference, if it looks good i watch it

Re: Male & Female Movies & TV
After having 1 girl and 3 boys, I can honestly say that I don't think gender has anything to do with it. My daughter loves watching Pokemon and any kind of anime action shows. Something you'd expect the boys to be into. She's never wanted to see sisterhood of the traveling pants (girly flick) which I'm ever so grateful for!!

I agree with Moon and Pookhabear. I will also watch a "chick flick", if it is something that is of interst to me. But I would just rather prefer some type of action film or a comedy.

Thank you, pb... can you tell the wind was blowing a bit?
I particularly like it when they combine an action flick with a chick flick.... like one of my all time favorite movies.. Braveheart

I think its not right for people to say, "oh, you can't go see this movie because its for guys/girls only..." sort of thing. That's almost sickening when people don't know that you may or may not like that kind of movie. That's all I'm gonna say for now.

Re: Male & Female Movies & TV
Probably not. Most woman I met either wanted a chick flic or 5 gallons of blood. Disposition?...maybe...but, not in todays culture. And quite frankly, I love it....One week they want gore as in "Saw" and the next week it's mush...go figure....

Re: Male & Female Movies & TV
Any gender boudaries can be crossed, but just generally speaking, women tend to like romance, romance comedies, while men like the action stuff, but again...that's just very general.
I prefer documentary films, films with historic accuracy and military history, action films, I definitly prefer a well written and well directed thriller over a gory horror film.
I can barely tolerate watching romance or romantic comedies.

for those that close their minds to them, miss out on so much, though, guys mainly. Two that come to mind Wedding Date and Just like Heaven were very funny, at least I thought they were

Re: Male & Female Movies & TV
I don't close my mind to nuttin'...I do watch them occasionally but the romantic comedies just don't leave much of an impression on me....except for, maybe a few of the old classic Rock Hudson/Doris Day flicks, for allot of reasons, I just love those!
A good movie is a good movie...regardless.

oooh so sorry , that came out wrong didn't mean you had a closed mind. Was thinking more of a few guys who really aren't to secure in their manbhood so they would bash anything

No I dont think its their gender, I think its how they have been raised, the media and their social circle.
I have 2 little girls, and I have raised them with the attitude of "See for yourself" and not accept what others believe as the truth, we are not all the same, and we all have different likes and dislikes.
Hence my youngest who loves dolls and prams, also loves train sets and Tae Kwondo!! My eldest loves "Bratz" and also football (soccer if you're american). I think to be open to new things will make them better people and give them more choices and hopefully they will not go through life blinkered!
I myself love to watch boxing and love being feminine.
So for the movies, I would say, love thrillers, action films and also an occasional love story.
Loved "Lake House" with Sandra Bullock, but also enjoy historical, factual thrillers.

Re: Male & Female Movies & TV
No worries and no need to apologize at all
There is one type of movie that I do hate, and that's the gratuitous gore and violence types, the "slasher" type movies. Okay, except for the original "Halloween"...dammit that's a classic!
