Is there a way to turn off profiles in here
I am not sure I want to delete my profile yet but don't want it on right now

Go to "My account"...yellow bar near the top, then on that page, on the left "preferences"....there you have this option
Visibility & Privacy Settings
I want my profile visible for others to find:
I want members to see that I have viewed their profile:
