Green and efficient
How energy efficient is your home and/or your auto?
Do you recycle, conserve, compost or are you paying out the ass for fuel, electric, water?
I live in a century old home, original windows and doors so I have to hang drapes for shade and to keep out the sun in the summer and to help keep out drafts in the winter, got those kinda ugly compact fluorescent light bulbs everywhere.
We don't have much going on for recycling around my rural area, but we do haul old appliances and aluminum cans to the recycling center in the next town.

Re: Green and efficient
This might sound like its a double standard, because I drive a Hummer, but I live less than 3 miles from work. However I own a recycling company and every month, I recover a minimum of 10,000 gallons of waste motor oil and about 140 tons of recyclable metal that would otherwise end up in landfills. Do I qualify for being green and efficient? My tree hugging daughter doesnt, but Im pretty sure that I do.

Re: Green and efficient
I live in a third floor, pizza oven. The fans run 24/7. My lights are all those low-watt 7yr bulbs, and my shower head is one of those special water savers. Ironically, I don't have or pay a water bill...

Re: Green and efficient
We put new siding and windows in a couple of years ago. Have tried to do things that will help our house to be more efficient. Only thing that really kills us is our water bill!
We live in a small town and they take full advantage of the citizens when it comes to water!
