Can you talk the talk?
Do you ever have any problems explaining yourself in a field or area that you have no or little experience in?
Like sometimes I know what I want and need from a hardware store, but don't know the "proper" name for it...or I know kinda the car part I need, but don't know what to call without saying something stupid like "the wirey thingy that looks like a little plastic bundt cake pan".
Do you find yourself at times relying on hand waving air descriptions, silly noises or bad mime acts to try to explain whatcha want? Or have you ever found yourself making silly noises trying to mimic your car?

That happens to me with music! I can hardly remember song names and artists! So in order to explain I need to sing the song, or whistle the tune, which is the cause for quite a few broken windows in the area

Re: Can you talk the talk?
I had that problem today. My boss couldn't think of the name of something he was looking for at first. He said you know, the thing you use to air up tires. I told him I know what that thingy is. hahahaha He got a real kick out of me calling it a thingy. The other two guys that were standing there with him just shook their heads and chuckled at me. I stood there and thought for a few minutes about where I had last seen the thingy! I looked at all three of them and smiled and said the air chuck is in this cabinet! Told them hahahaha I did know what it was called, just took me a few minutes to think of it.

Re: Can you talk the talk?
I had to sit and look at page after page on the Lowe's website once just so I could call my husband and tell him that I needed him to stop by the hardware store and pick me up a "barrel sliding lock" for the basement door.
It was better than trying to tell him to get "one of those locks that has like a bar with a knobby thing and it slides into another piece that's like a tubey kinda thing..."

You know CHAZZY, I have done a similar thing as that. I have left the WN forums and googled a word or phrase to either get the proper spelling or to make sure I get the definition. I don't like to use the wrong words if at all possible.

Hey, VB....a long time ago I added the little Merriam-Webster downloaded toolbar to my IE....it's got a dictionary and thesaurus right there for ya anytime you need it.
It would be kinda cool to have one of those search boxes here like on some sites, ya know...just a search box and a choice of search this site, or search the web.

I'm a, "Balderdash" expert... I've been known to spread it out thick and thin to get others to believe that I know what I'm talking about. My friends have told me that, "I could sell ice to an Eskimo"...

Hey CHAZZY, when I get my VAIO laptop, the first thing I'll do is download that MERRIAM-WEBSTER dictionary that you're talking about. That sounds like it'll be perfect for me! Thanks sweety......
