....... Says Liberalwife, (through gritted teeth) to the frikkin pesky, pushy telephone sales canvasser. 
Geez, Don't these guys just annoy the crap out of ya?
How do you deal with them?

I have caller display, and if it is a sales call i get just lines, so i answer the phone, i don't speak, just leave it off the hook till they get fed up and hang up.

We have Caller ID (same thing}, but I have my phone hooked up to my Fax Machine, and after the sixth ring it goes to the Fax, in that time span I can see who it is, if I choose not to answer, then after the sixth ring the Fax picks-up, if there is no fax message all he gets is a bunch of fax tones and immediately hangs up.

My brother has a high pitched screeching noise programmed onto his phone, so he uses that, funny enough, he doesn't get many unwanted calls now

I answer the phone- franks pizza and then start filling their ear with all my suicidal, neurotic, depressing bullshit! {witch} lol 4 u bub! in fact is non existent! its amazing how fast they dont want to talk!

How do you deal with them?
One of the many things I learned from my brother.
Let them start thier talk, answer the first few yes and no questions, then set the phone quiety on the counter. Come back in a half hour to see if they are still there.

Caller ID is a lifesaver! If it doesn't tell me who it is and it's a strange number I just let my answer machine pick it up. What drives me crazy is when they can't even pronounce your name right!

Before we got on the "No Call" list. I would listen for a moment then interrupt the caller, by asking them if they were married, if they were, if the fooled around, if the didn't, would they like to. Or I ask if they were a good cook, and if they cooked naked, if they had kids, and did they want to practice having kids. Sometimes I wouldn't get that far. But it made the calls interesting.

I thought that I was on the no call list as well,,,come to find,,,Im hearing that some rules were changed and we have to resubmitt to the no-call list to have our names and phone numbers upgraded so we wont be called,,,I'll be darned if I can remember of even find the no-call list phone number to re-register our phones.

I used to get a lot of them when I had my business. When they started their sales pitch, I would interrupt them and ask for their credit card number. When they asked why I need it, I told them so that I could charge their card for my time that they where wasting. That usually took care of most of them.
