I know this woman who also liked dozers, and big equipment when we would go shopping and would pass by one her head would turn sharply so I would slow down and laugh, and she would say what so funny,,,I would say the way you get mesmerized by that equipment, she would say I know, but I dont know why, I think it is just interesting. She had two degrees, Masters and a bachelor. I told her that stuff was boring for me because I spent many years operating those things, but it is interesting for you because you spent all your time in collage, then working indoors the medical field so it is all new to you. She would then just twist up her lip and give me the Yeah Right cock the eyebrow look. I would say,,,it would be easier to just say Fuck you,,,then we would both laugh.

Re: I have a "thing" for.....
3am is considered by some, a mystical time, they say the "veil" between two worlds is lifted for that short period of time so those can slip from one "side" to the other...that's kinda nice and that time of day does seem mystical..
3am is also a good matchbox 20 song!

Hey, REALshedevil, if you like morels, do you like orange chanterelles? They are all over the place now, I like them so much better than morels...easy to identify, easy to clean, just dip 'em in a little egg/milk, coat 'em in a little flour with garlic powder, deep fry them crisp(they are also killer sauteed and in a omelet)...I love the summer mushrooms far more than the fall morels and corals.

That's a good rule of thumb for most things! Add to that if it smells funny don't eat it either

Re: I have a "thing" for.....
Nope, I have taught allot of people mushroom hunting, but it takes time, I have to be sure they understand everything and are sure of themselves about it, and mostly I have to be certain that they take it very seriously and never pick any that they have any doubts about, and only eat a few bites of mushrooms they have never eaten before
(it's possible for a person to eat a "safe" mushroom, but have a rare allergic reaction to them...like swelling of the lips..it's harmless reaction...but (giggle)sorry, it is kinda funny to see!)

Chazzy we do have chanterelles here. I like them as much as I do morels. Guess I really do have a thing for mushrooms! I also love a good stuffed portabella mushroom. MMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm Maybe next year ya'll can come to Richmond for our Mushroom Festival. They don't sell cooked morels, because they are wild, but they do have people that come in for the fest that sell them for $30 a gallon! Now that to me is ridiculous. We don't buy them, just go hunt em ourselves.

Re: I have a "thing" for.....
I always wondered if there are any proven health facts for mushrooms besides tasting excellent with onoins on top of a portehouse steak and good in soup and on salads. I know there are lots of articles on them and encapsuled varieties in health food stores, But I do not recall any actual nutritional health studies done on those puppies, only have heard about the ones that you can get high from or die from.
I eat lots of mushrooms, but I hunt mine at Costco.

Re: I have a "thing" for.....
I'm with you on the Mushroom thing... I put them in just about everything I cook. I don't know how they rate nutritionally, but they're my favorite meat-substitute. Usually store-bought, though...
I went on a Mushroom-hunting hike with a local club here, last fall. It was one of the most beautiful hikes I've ever taken, and it was so much fun to learn about finding mushrooms in the wild. I've never done that before... I'd love to do it again! Afterwards we cooked up the mushrooms we found and sampled them.... yummmmmmmm!!!!!
Anybody want to go mushroom-hunting with me???

I have 2 actually in his movies. Rio Bravo with John Wayne (also a favorite) and The Sons of Katie Elder (hmmm, also with John Wayne....is that a pattern?) of course, Martin and Lewis movies are extremely good, too, lol.
