A very scary reality......
In the last few days, two incidents of terror plots have been foiled at airports in LONDON and GLASGOW, SCOTLAND. In the US, authorities at most airports have tightened up inspections and a general vigilance a bit. They'll be very visible for a short while and then the alert will all but disappear.
This morning, I cruised through our local regional BRADLEY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT in Windsor Locks, CT and the authorities were indeed very visible, checking vehicles at random.
I drop people off at BRADLEY everyday while working at HERTZ and I've got to tell you, I never see any security people around in front of the terminals. Anyone so inclined, could very easily drive up in a bomb laden vehicle, jump out and walk away. I'm sure the same situation exists at most if not all US airports.
That is a freakin' scary reality!!
Have you noticed a similar situation at any airport you've visited?

Re: A very scary reality......
I only go to the airport say on average once every 4 years, so I do not experience the same affects that you do, the last airport was Grenville/Spartenberg to pick up my sister n law who flew in from Seatle for thanksgiving, we all met in SC. by my sons place. But that air port was like family, all the people, stangers amd all, are so glad to see each other, they are so friendly in the south, not like here, in ILLinois, where they go to church on sundays but hate their neighbors.
There was a song out in the 60's called "On the eve of distruction" it always gave me goose bumps, has anyone here ever heard it? They should dig that one out of the archives and play it, I thought there was a lot of truth in it.

Re: A very scary reality......
Actually DFW has been very tight for several weeks. Security will tow unattended vehicles in 3 minutes or less at any terminal drop off or pick up point. They have been serious for a long time about this. Attended vehicles are checked and advised to move, go around or what ever is needed and security is seen all over the terminal areas. I think it is one of the most secure airports in the country in terms of the amount of surveillance in evidence. I'm sure it isn't foolproof but it is much better that Atlanta or Portland, two of the worst. Folks this is a serious matter and I have no complaint about how stringent the enforcement is here or any place else. I don't think I would look very attractive spread all over a wall somewhere.

Re: A very scary reality......
I dropped off a friend at Glasgow airport yesterday. The eeriness and sense of nervousness in the air, was indeed very, very scary.

Re: A very scary reality......
My boys dad works in London, and it does worry me.
They need to remove anyone who is a threat to any country. The worrying thing is, they don't move into our countries, they are born and brought up there, they get our education, use our health services ect, then turn on us.
All countries need to pull together and put a STOP to this threat once and for all.
Everyone has the right to feel and be safe.

Re: A very scary reality......
I must say I don't even leave town, so security isn't something I see often in a one horse town....
However, as I was speaking to my mother yesterday she decides to add to our conversation, like it was no big deal, and happens every day, that your brother was at the airport in Glasgow when the bombing happened, and he just happen to pull the terrorist out of the car while it was on fire.....
Ohh, then she adds, he was on CNN all day.....
I thought to myself, all of this happened, and this is the first time I'm hearing about this?......
