Death of the Chat Room
The past few days, the chat rooms have been really dead. Its not that people aren't going into the chat rooms, we just don't have anything to talk about. There's nothing sadder than a room with 10 or so people and no one is saying anything.
I will admit on my part, that I tend to multi task on my end and sometimes get wrapped up in other things. But if the conversation is interesting I definetely join in. So...
Lets use this topic to come up with a good list of conversation starters, something that we can constantly add to and refer back to when no one seems to have anything to talk about. Come on people, I know that there's some interesting things that we can talk about!

Re: Death of the Chat Room
There are many that "muti-task" while in chat. I think that some come in waiting for someone they wrote or are in PM.

Re: Death of the Chat Room
I see just bunches of people in there every night! I just assumed there was lively conversation going on in there!
I often hesitate to pop in cuz I see so many people there, and assume that it's just a little too hectic for me to bust in on...

Re: Death of the Chat Room
I usually try to get to the setting "block PMs" as soon as I hit the chatroom, but the PM's start popping up quick. Sometimes I just ignore and close them, I don't mean to sound like a wicked ole bitch, but when I do hit the chatroom it's to chat with everyone in there, and with my eyesight, trying to keep up with the open chatroom AND all the PM's is just too much for me

Re: Death of the Chat Room
I used to get PM's from folks who just wanted to comment on certain folks who are spouting shit. Kind of like a pre-warning system. That's fine, but don't keep going on and on about them...

That is what i do is ignore them now and close them. some get the point or i tell them I'm chatting with everyone. Most are good with that you just have the few that keep going. It has just been very quiet in there. Some days it is just hard to get any talking going.

Re: Death of the Chat Room
With the right people in there, the chat in the lobby is friendly and fun. Though, there are the people who go in there (regular) and never say a word.

Re: Death of the Chat Room
I chat in the chat rooms almost everyday. Most of the time I keep up, but I type slow and if the chat is moving too fast I will stay out of everyone way and just read the chat. Do not want to be 1 or 2 subjects behind.

I know how you feel. When i first started in the chat room I hardly said a word. i just watched. I did not type fast enough to keep up. then one time they pulled me in and the typing got a little faster. I'm still not very fast and I'm a little behind but that's OK. Nobody seems to mind.

Re: Death of the Chat Room
Ya know, one time a long time ago...I popped in a chatroom somewhere on the internet (I don't remember where) but you could adjust the "speed" for yourself, I have no idea how it works, but you could just slow it down to a comfortable pace for yourself...
Pretty cool!

That is why I like this site so much. Besides having the most friendly people and prettiest ladies the sites with 100+ people in a chat room is totally be on my typing skills.

Re: Death of the Chat Room
Maybe it is the fast paced speed in chat that holds some back..but I think for most of the "oldies" that used to hang out there it got to be just to much.. We all used to hang out in chat for hours and looked forward to it as a place to unwind, have a good time, tease and joke with one another without having to worry if we voiced our opinion on any subject...unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case any longer..walking on "eggshells" seemed to take the fun out of everything...we "the oldies" still chat daily by conferencing IM's and are closer than ever.

I'm sure youre faster than me Chazzy, anyone who can type 2 words a minute is faster than me, not to mention, I use the backspace key more than the others cuz my typing skills suck. But nobody seems to give me much flak about it.

I've always enjoyed each and every visit I've had in there, never the same group, but always pleasant and fun and I look forward to the next time!
I can type faster, if I clean my keyboard, it's kinda sticky from the banana popsicles...
