And they're off.......
WTF were they thinking? A freakin' drag race down a road with spectators standing along the road unprotected? No barriers or anything! Six dead and counting! Man, could they be any stupider? What special education lauriet came up with this plan? Is this just NASCAR gone retarded (oxymoron)?
The driver of the car that plowed into the crowd, said he really doesn't know how his car went out of control. Good explanation shithead! He is supposedly an experienced driver and racer. Oh, that changes things then.......

Re: And they're off.......
Well from what I read about this. This has absolutly nothing to do with NASCAR. They have been doing this event for 18 years. But they never let a car race down the highway, this was the first time. One person said that even if there was a guard rail, it would not have mattered. It was wrong for them to allow the drag racing car to go down the highway. Some people will never think with a clear head.

Re: And they're off.......
Actually FUN, I knew this had nothing to do with NASCAR. I just hate that sport! Sorry about that. :
I don't hear any promoters coming forward and admitting a thing. Their lawyers have undoubtedly told the ones responsible to shut the f**k up! The police authorities from that town seem to be excusing the whole event as nothing but a freak accident. WTF?
Wanna bet the authorities knew that a race was gonna happen and kinda condoned it by not putting a stop to it before hand? Heads are gonna roll..... And the lawsuits? Oh sh*t, the lawsuits as well as criminal prosecutions will be ongoing for a f**kin' long ass time bother!!!!
A similar thing happened up this way about 8 years ago. Some street racers plowed into 2 men and seriously injured both. Lawsuits are just now coming to a head......

Re: And they're off.......
And another thing. If the authorities were not condoning the race in the first place, WTF were they doing doing while the racers were staging at the starting line? On a donut break? F**kin dickheads......The shi*t will hit the fan! If the local authorities don't do anything, the district attorney will! Somebody will have to pay!!
Do I hear a rush to the WALMART human resources for openings in store security?

Re: And they're off.......
I didn't hear anything about it actually being a race. It was one car that ran down the road. They said that the State Police will be doing a press conference today. So we'll see what they have to say.

Why then were the two cars side by side? Looked like some sort of race to me!

Re: And they're off.......
It was not a Drag Race, it was a Burn Out, where they power brake the car, and spin the wheels while smoke is bellowing out. However, I do not know what they were thinking of by having spectators so close.......

I still think the local cops have to answer for the whole deal. The did nothing to stop what was undoubtedly illegal.

Re: And they're off.......
There is a church in our area that does thing sort of thing every year. They have those big concrete barriers that you see used for road construction. I haven't been at it, but my kids have. They say it's blast. They have never had a problem either.

One previous post said it all. They did this thing for 18 years and nothing happened to anyone. So one driver went too far and everyone who wasn't there is ready to rip the charity, the town, the state, the local PD, the State Troopers, and anyone else I might have forgotten a new butt-hole! Take it for what it is people a, "tragic accident." That's it...nothing more needs to be done here. A lot of kids are now going to be hurt from the money this event used to raise, but I can garantee that you won't hear about that with anywhere to being close to the media coverage this accident is getting. Are any of you willing open up your tight wad pocket books and wallets and give. I thought so...

Re: And they're off.......
i have watched a film of this awful tragedy, and there was only ONE car doing a "burnout" performance. the car just didnt shut-down like it was supposed to. a terrible occurance, hope somebody is made to pay for all that carnage! i love the sport of drag-racing, but that was just a stupid way to promote it !!!!!!!
