Your next BIG purchase?
Will it be a luxury kind of thing, or a necessary kind of thing? Something like a really nice entertainment/large TV system or more like a new fridge or stove?
Top of my list, a new clothes washer...mine is nearly shot but I'm squeezing all the life out of it I can!

Re: Your next BIG pruchase?
The outside of my house needs a facelift...new garage doors, a paint job, and a new driveway...how much excitement can a girl get from that...oh, wait, perhaps I should just take all that money and buy some shoes... ...not going to happen but it sure sounded fun.

Yes, it is. Thank you for asking. They fixed everything that another Cat dealer didn't fix correctly too. I have heard that the new engines cost less to replace than rebuild. That'd be a big bite. Imagine having to shell out $30,000 or more for another engine.

Need to get Ma a set of wheels. Something better than a 17 year old car that has 200,000 plus miles on it.

Re: Your next BIG purchase?
I'll tell ya MO, one of the associates at a local TWEETER store said that dollar for dollar, the DLP's are a better deal compared to plasma in the larger sizes. You get more bang for your buck! I have a TOSHIBA 52hmx. It can be had for as little as $1400 I've had it for 2 years and it kicks ass in Hi Def. As for my sound system, I have a BOSE LIFESTYLE 48. Very versatile but freakin' expensive! $3999.
If you need some info, by all means ask me!

I have been looking at puchasing a Sony 46" LCD but now I have been hearing that the 1081P thing is more important than 1377 X 760 lines of resolution? I am all mixed up on that stuff. I would surely appreciate any comments.

A new bachelor pad. Due to an impending end to the matrimonial home!
At least be able to get something decent outright rather than mortgaged, leaving the money for those nice little extras!

I would still mortgage it. Any home purchase over $90,000 (i think thats the amount) without a mortgage will red flag your tax return to the IRS and you'll get an automatic audit. They never said anything about paying off the mortgage in a year though...
Juilianna, I'm debating about tiling it or just redoing it with laminate. I think if I tile it, it will raise the cost up a bit, but I could just do it over the current floor.

Yeh, the IRS will notice a large cash purchase no matter what you buy. As far as paying off a house, the rule of thumb is top keep a mortgage of some size as to give you some security in case a civil lawsuit is brought against you. At least the litigants will have to wait in line behind the mortgagor to get paid. If you are found liable in a civil lawsuit and you own your house outright, you will be ordered by the court to liquidate your cash holdings (your house) to satisfy the judgment.

This is where Pa and I disagree. I think our next big purchase should be getting all the stuff we need to get Pa's bike up and running.

LMAO--I was thinking of a bicycle built for two, and NRG in the little baby buggy that you pull behind them. Don't worry NRG, I'll make sure the nuk is a new one, just for you.
