Shoulda gone all the way........
Have you heard about the 17 y/o man from GEORGIA that has spent the last 28 months in jail for having consentual oral sex with his 15 y/o girlfriend? The sex act was seen on the internet. Under GEORGIA law, if he had intercourse with her, it would have been prosecuted as a misdemeanor with little or no jail time. As it was, the blowjob was prosecuted as a felony and the young man will be listed as a sex registry when he is released from prison (10 years).
He was an honor student who kept his nose clean. He had no trouble with the law up 'til then. The law has since been changed to not consider his infraction a felony. The new law is not retroactive so he can not benefit from the change. His new lawyer is appealing to the governor of GEORGIA for some leniency in his case. I hope he gets it......

Re: Shoulda gone all the way........
My god, i can't believe that, they are both grown up enough to make that decision. How can they ruin the rest of a young mans life when the girl obviously consented. I hope he gets taken off the register and has no further problems

I agree, since it was consenting. Let him go for god's sake. Lord knows the education he will get in prison.

Re: Shoulda gone all the way........
Still....I do believe the legal age of consent in all 50 states is 16, so since she was only 15...it cannot be legally thought of as consensual.
Good gawd, we have a underaged girl, doing sexually explicit acts on the internet...that's child porn!
If these two "lovers" don't have the good sense to see how wrong they were in sooooo many ways....maybe there should be some legal penalties for at least one of them...yes, teens often become sexually active...but on the internet???
Someone send me the link to the entire story for this if you should have it...

Re: Shoulda gone all the way........
Okay....the entire story appears on the CNN website under the tab of "law"....
From what I read, this was not a girlfriend/boyfriend kinda thing, and it happened 4 years ago....
The entire story is really worth reading in order to get a good clear perspective on this.

Re: Shoulda gone all the way........
I read the story and my opinion has not changed. Yes it was 4 years ago, but the ages are correct. He was 17 and she was 15. Seems kinda funny, that his is the only case that went to trial. Everyone else took plea's. No one forced her to do anything, she was a willing participant. Do I agree with what they did, or in the manor/situation in which it happened, NO. But no one hear can sit and tell me that they would not have done the same thing, under the same circumstances. It has to do with teenagers, raging hormones, drinking and drugs.

Re: Shoulda gone all the way........
All and all, I feel the same way FUN.......Hell, 28 months is more than enough punishment considering that the original GEORGIA law that the young man was convicted under, has been changed.

Re: Shoulda gone all the way........
For what its worth, going back to a recent WN poll on what age we lost out virginities, the overwhelming number of us that responded, said it was between 14 & 16 years old. Im just sayin.

Re: Shoulda gone all the way........
Sure when I was young, I had older boyfriends, and I had sex at the age of 15....but we both knew that is was illegal, and that our actions could have serious consequences for my boyfriend.....I don't recall there ever being many, if any highschool boy that didn't know WTF the term "jailbait" meant. Drunk or sober a 15 year old is still underaged, and then there was the semi- conscience 17 year old girl also in that video.
This kid has served more than enough time for this.

Re: Shoulda gone all the way........
This kid's sentenced has been voided...he will be released as soon as the paper goes through, and will be on his record as a misdemeanor and will not have to register as a sex offender.
10 years without parole is way to long...but yet I still worry about one thing...that kids are not being taught or not bothering to heed the very basics...can't get a driver's license till you're 16, can't buy alcohol and drink till you're 21, and 16 is the legal age of consensual sex...

Re: Shoulda gone all the way........
"consensual" means nothing nowadays...I'm pretty sure any young girl with an older boyfriend will get "consensual" after those all time famous words..."if you don't, then I'm gettin rid of you"

Re: Shoulda gone all the way........
Yep, young men should know that...you can't legally have "consensual" sex with someone under the age of 16, and you can't have a legal binding contract with anyone that young either!

Pfffttt! If a guy said that to me, I would be quite happy to be rid of him!

Re: Shoulda gone all the way........
Hmmmm.. quite a bad thing here. I haven't yet read the full story on this.. but I have read the threads thus far. There is one question that comes to my mind first... Where in the world is a responsible adult around these minors? No where I suspect. People mention that teen agers will do stupid and irresponsible things... and yes this is true. Lord knows that we've all done them ourselves. However, the things of this nature that teens get away with are generally because the adults fumble their responsibility to make sure that their children are doing what they are supposed to.. where they are supposed to be doing it and that they are properly supervised by an adult.
Those of you that have met me so far know that I have boys of my own. I am quite sure that none of them would ever have the chance even to do something like this, as I am very particular as to their itinerary. Unfortunately, this is becoming a lost art these days. Folks... it boils down to this... the kids did something stupid... yes. Should be punished.. yes. 10 years AND a registered sex offender?... NO way. I am glad to see that this young man will actually have a chance in life out of prison. Maybe from now on, he will make better choices!

Re: Shoulda gone all the way........
I agree with ya on the parenting issue, and even mentioned that I did not understand how any highschool boy could NOT know what the term JailBait means!
It's common, yes, for teens to be involved in misdemeanor illegal activity, but these idiots always have to videotape or record their acts??? How moronic is that and why haven't they been taught better? Geez, they keep braggin on about he was an honor roll student, well then he's smart enough to freakin' know better!
But...I'm very happy to see that he will get a lesser charge, and be out of prison soon.
