Weird Internet stuff!
Do you ever run across something sooooo weird while surfing the Internet, or find something totally odd in your search results that you can describe?

Re: Weird Internet stuff!
I was searching for "cat health" sites once, and ran across a really weird site, it was about cats in sinks, totally nothing but cats in sinks, cats in kitchen sinks, cats in bathroom sinks, they had a posted comments section, a photo section (of course) of just cats lounging around in sinks and even a weekly newsletter you could sign up for, about nothing but cats in sinks...
I just saw this really weird amazing video clip of this giant marionette puppet, but that was more cool than weird really!

Hmmm, not exactly what I was looking to get my teeth into!

never search for 'amateur' (especially at your Mom's house) anything unless you are prepared for really explicit photos. "Amateur radio" came up with several conventional sites and one which looked ok but in German. Results didn't bother me but my 80+ mom will never google again!

How right you are about being careful what you type in. Our middle son wanted some codes for one of his games one time. He typed in games and oh boy did he get an eye full. He came running out of the office with the most shocked look on his face.

That's why the people have invented the "parental control" software. Do a Google search...
It is your responsibility to keep kids away from porn, not the search engines, imho.

How right you are absix. Our son was 24 years old at the time. Was just a big shock to him when he was expecting game codes.

Re: Weird Internet stuff!
Hey, HGB..do you have a program to scan your computer for data mining, spyware, etc? Not just your anti-virus program but one specifically for spyware and adware..
Lavasoft Adaware is a pretty good one, sounds like you might have picked up a data miner visiting a website, and it's not necessarily an adult or sex site that will have data mining trojans, it can be a totally innocent looking site and the site itself, sometimes isn't aware it's infected. Tech stuff is pretty much over my head...I suck at it...but it sounds like possibly you picked up a spyware trojan or data miner and a good program will clean it up for you, I often do a thorough scan with the Adaware, then do a full Norton's antivirus scan afterwards.

Unless anyone knows a better spyware program, maybe?

Re: Weird Internet stuff!
Let me know how you do with the ad-aware program, HGB....I hadn't ran mine in a month and after talking to you here, I ran a scan and had 60 "critical objects" to clean off my computer...allot of spyware and tracking stuff.
