insomniacs
Do you ever get spells of sleeplessness? What do you do when insomnia hits, flip through the TV channels, log on to the Internet, get up and pace around, or maybe make the room as dark and quiet as possible and try to force sleep to come? Do you ever rely on OTC or prescription sleep aids?
I don't currently suffer from it, but do occasionally.
I keep a few OTC sleep aids handy, and have even used one of those sound machines, they're kinda nice for soothing a busy mind...
I think what works best for me, is just to put the TV kinda low on a PBS documentary, something about just one voice narration that allows me to just close my eyes and drift off...kinda hypnotic really.

Re: insomniacs
I do like the sound machine, but if it's the right season, an open window, a dark quiet room, a cool fresh breeze and just listening to crickets, bull frogs, and night birds works even better.

Re: insomniacs
I had a horrible bout with insomnia last year, I was fortunate if I was able to get between two to three hours a night. It took its toll on me in ways I didn't even realize. I never had wrinkles on my face and I gained weight from the experience. That's why I'm rarely seen on WN late at night anymore...a girl needs her beauty rest!!!
Now, I actually had to get assistance from a doctor to help out with the problem...now I sleep like a baby when I lay my head down. Probably doesn't hurt that this week I started a twice a day workout routine...I'm worn the hell out but it is a good kind of tired.

Re: insomniacs
Gawd, it does take a heavy toll, Juils...right now, it's not that I have insomnia, I can get to sleep, but with the husbands working hours, I can't get near enough sleep.
It's horrible, it makes me depressed and sluggish...just horrible!

Re: insomniacs
i just deal with it...eventually the sleep will come.
otc sleep aids tends to make me get jittery, therefore keeping me wide awake...

Re: insomniacs
having endured this problem a few times, i found that it is no laughing matter. what worked/works for me is a really hot shower and then after, reading a good book. i love to read , but it makes me sleepy and solves the problem......

Re: insomniacs
Just had a bout with that last night. Had a dream about work, and it woke me up. Then I couldn't get back to sleep. I don't take anything for it, Just kinda lay there and wait.

Re: insomniacs
I feel really tired when i finish work, all those kids just suck the energy out of ya
But when it comes to going to sleep at night, i lay there for hours, and all the worries and hassles go round and round my head, and then i'm wide awake
