High School sweethearts
Remember "going steady" ?....What was used to symbolize that you were going steady with someone back in your younger school days?
I remember wearing the guy's class ring which was always way too big, so we took pride in our craft of using all kinds of fancy embroidery thread to weave and wrap it so it fit.
ID bracelets, were a popular bit of going steady jewelry too, then there was the specially purchased promise rings, and things like wearing the guys famous and favorite denim, varsity or leather jacket.
My older sister, during the hippie phase, her and her friends always made these little beaded "his and her" matching hippie necklaces...

The wearing of the class ring and letterman's jacket were a big thing when I was in school. And yes we always took such care in making the yarn thread to make sure the ring would fit. Promise rings were a big thing too. The one sweetheart that I had for several years gave me a promise ring. We didn't go any farther than that. Our paths just kinda changed. Now he and his wife are good neighbors of ours.

Re: High School sweethearts
WOW, what are the chances????? My high school sweetheart just made contact with me, after almost 27 years. What memories that brought back. We were from rival schools, and lived quite a few miles apart. But she was my first real love. It seems kinda ironic that her dad and her sister and family all live in the same town as me. But I'd probably never know who they were if I ran into them. Then to find out that she lives in the same city that my youngest son lives in. We have talked a fair amount on the computer, but have yet to meet in person. However the chances of us ever hooking up again, are none and none.

Ummmmm...sorry, it's me...the buzz killer again here...I'm pretty sure we should NOT post anyone's full name in these forums, and/or any of their detailed personal information ...maybe Diane won't mind, but maybe she will mind very much, and she's not here to make that call...
So...yes....I edited her surname.

Re: High School sweethearts
My high school sweetheart was a very cute cherokee indian girl, we went steady all through jr. & sr high. She wore my class ring & varsity letter jacket. But alas, when I went to the Air Force, she went to college. Miles apart, after I went to flight school, we lost contact for about 15 years. When we saw each other again, she was married to a singer in a popular rock band in Kansas. We still talk occasionally, so it's not all bad
