Body Image
How many people are consious of their their body image? I am slim and ok looking. But i am still so consious of my body. I had an operation in November on my stomach. It has left me with small scars and a bloated stomach. Although the rest of me is fine i have a tiny belly. My friends tell me it barely noticable but it makes me feel discusting. No amount of stomach crunches seem to be working! I worry so much about being naked with my scars! My male friends tell me that men also have their insecurities and most of the time they dont notice anything coz they are too worried about themselves. Do men really notice the belly, or the scars, or the excema? Is this off putting? I used to be really confident of my looks and could happily run around naked. But my illness really took it out of me. Left me with hair that was falling out and thinning, bad skin, scars etc etc. Does any of this matter???
How much do u guys worry about ur bodies? How much do u spend trying to look good? Does everyone worry about their body image?? Does this affect your relationships or your sex life?

Re: Body Image
unfortunately, I am one of those people who are CHRONICALLY self-aware! I obsess...of course, I like beer and fried food, too...but, I am still extremely conscious of my negatives...
of course...a trip to the local Wal-Mart usually cures any self loathing that is taking hold...ever look at those people???

Re: Body Image
My wife has stretch marks from being pregnant.
Honestly, I don't ever see them unless she talks to me and shows them to me. Yes, they're obvious, but I see the beauty in her.
Heck, I'm not an Adonis myself.
Just happy to be me-that's all!

Re: Body Image
If someone has issues with the way another person looks they definitly qualify as "shallow" (see Kareena's other thread). Most people are too critical of their own appearance: women primarily are concerned with their figure and men with their hair (or scarcity of it). That's why there are so many ads on TV for diet and exercise products and "The Hair Club for Men" every day. Read my lips, "IT DOESN'T MATTER" folks, you look just fine the way you are! That's what makes you uniquely you.
Concentrate on that thought and quit worrying about it!

Re: Body Image
I like women short or tall, fat or small, I guess it all depends on the words they speak and the things they seek. Usually I will accept women 18 to 80, sound mind or crazy. The cloths they wear will cause me to look at them, how they wiggle their ass, will insure enthusiasm.

Re: Body Image
Your body is what makes you, you. If everyone had the perfect body, we would just be a bunch of stuck up clones. All those little scars, marks, and such are what makes you unique. I don't care what scars marks tattoo's piercings ect.. that you have. I look much deeper than that, that's where the true beauty is.

that will also help keep you spine in line and help avoid lower back injury.

Re: Body Image
i think that although women are much more self consious about their bodies men are as well (allthough most wouldnt admit it) :-)
but when a guy looks at a pretty woman , most of the time hel overlook the small problems and look at the whole picture

Re: Body Image
90% percent of the time, when I am talking to a woman, I am actually hoping that she accepts my appearance, I have lots of flaws in that department.
