Bars, clubs, pubs and taverns..
What kind of place do you like to go and have a few? Do you have a regular happy hour place where you know the usual crowd?
Do you have a special "night out" place to go, for maybe some karaoke, dart tournaments, live music and dancing?

Re: Bars, clubs, pubs and taverns..
Night out??? What may I ask is that??? I love to go to have dinner and drinks with my girlfriends, our opportunities are few and far between these days with being personal transportation specialists for our children...but we are trying to get up a sports team of some kind to do one day a week together...now that would require going to the bar to drink away our pain afterwards...

At home... no designated driver needed. Besides that, it's illegal here in the state of Texas for the passenger to be drunk! BS, isn't it?!

Re: Bars, clubs, pubs and taverns..
I rarely go out anywhere anymore. In NY, you cant smoke in bars anymore and not going to them is my way of protesting that ban. When the ban went into effect, MANY local places went out of business in a matter of months because of the law. There was a previous law which required smoking sections to also have expensive air handling equipment installed. Required by law. Then shortly after they incurred the expense of the equipment, the Almighty State bans smoking altogether. Now these poor bastards weren't only out the cost of the equipment, they then had to loose revenue from people who simply wouldn't separate their 2 vices. A few places paid the fine for still allowing patrons to smoke because the revenue generated was greater than the fine. I know many will disagree with me, but I think it should be up to the owner of the establishment whether or not their customers should be allowed to smoke. So again,, I dont frequent any bars, clubs or pubs. Sorry for going off topic with my little tirade!

FYI - Warning to all Texans...not just the passenger law, but if you have one alcoholic beverage and get behind the wheel of a car transporting children under the age of 18 it is considered a felony whether you are impaired or not...the officer that pulls you over is to call Child Protective Services immediately and your children will be taken into CPS custody and you have to go before a judge to get them back...I don't ever drink with my kids around but just one glass of wine will get you in serious trouble.

Re: Bars, clubs, pubs and taverns..
My wife and friends always frequent restaurants such as "99's", "SMOKEY BONES", "RUBY TUESDAYS" or "TGIF".
We will always sit at the bar because we can usually walk right in and get a bar stool plus we can converse with the bartender and get the best service. The drinks are usually made with a little extra uumph.....We usually strike up conversations with other patrons there and a good time is had by all.....

Re: Bars, clubs, pubs and taverns..
When I use to live here before moving, I would visit McP's on Coronado. I knew the bartender and would hang out on Thursday night when all the 'teams' would be there. A great place for the ladies to be since all the hotels knew we were there on Thursday night and would recommend that spot.
Now that I'm back, (and married) I haven't had the chance to hang out.

We don't go out to any bar. Just not into all those drunks making total ass's out themselves. We do visit a couple of local eating places, no they don't serve any good drinks, just coffee. If we want to drink we'll stay home.

I travel all over Texas on business and love going to the local corner bars where ever I'm at. You meet some of the most interesting down to earth people, hard working, hard playing folks. I'm always looking for new places to visit. If you got one let me know some day I might just show up.

We don't go out too much to bars and such. It's hard for my hubby to hear because it is so loud. I do love going dancing but don't get to do that much either. That's why I love it when my work has a dance! Sometimes I get lucky and my hubby is in the mood to go out for a drink.

Wife and I enjoy Texas Road House but don'e hit the bar scene much, she used to tend bar so if we want to drink, she makes them at home. When I did hit the bars, nice country bars do a little pool, sad to say the nice country bars are now parking lots. Times change
