Gentlemen we really are spellbound
been away for awhile, job commitments and all. met a great girl, who seemed everything i was looking for, a fabulous romance ensued, till she confided in me that she was a bona fide 'witch' yep leader of a covern; dances naked in the woods while making her magic at her alter, ok witches i know arn't all sabrena and buffy, and i do reside down stonehenge way but i am freaked, shouldnt be and ive been given some witchcraft books to gen up on, only wanted a normal life not this. Any advice would help, not been asked to do anything really weird yet, but i live in hope, no help please.

Run!! Run far far away! J/K....If you are uncomfortable with it then tell her... And maybe give her a chance...learn a lil about her "life"...If you still dont like it then tell her goodbye.

Re: Gentlemen we really are spellbound
From what I know about "Wicca", it is a rather beautiful religion that worships or praises nature, not the spellcasting, cauldron boiling, dark evil that the Disney Corp. has influenced us to believe. But any mix of religion, politcal parties, or culture can bring allot of difficulties with it, very wise of you to check into further. ( Nice to see you here again,!)

Re: Gentlemen we really are spellbound
If you really care for her , try your best to learn and understand , her way of life , I bet her everyday life isnt all that different. this is just a diff "religion" than most , but is not a scary , or bad thing. give it a chance , you may find something you can embrace yourself.

Re: Gentlemen we really are spellbound
If you are uncomfortable with it, she will probably cast a minor spell of "enslavement" and you won't be uncomfortable anymore...
Minor Love Potions, Enchantments, Hexes and Minor Curses won't hurt you at all, but if you want a "normal" life then wiccan's aren't for you. Stick to the good old CofE.

Re: Gentlemen we really are spellbound
Differences in religious belief aren't too bad in the beginning. If this relationship isn't going anywhere serious then I don't see a problem as long as she knows right off there isn't anything serious. But once you get serious and children or families get involved there is a slight problem. It takes a bit more work to explain things and try not to confuse in the process. Not to mention the holidays...Sheesh.
But until then I would just make it clear that you would rather not involve religion in your relatonship and the things that you do.

Dude! Dont look a gift horse (witch) in the mouth! Ask her to cast a spell to make you hung like a horse!
But seriously... as said above, any discrepencies in political, religion, faith views, etc., will inevitably come out and cause problems down the road. You have a decision to make... shit or get off the pot!

Re: Gentlemen we really are spellbound
I've had the pleasure of dating 2 ladies who were Wiccan in the past 2 years. Fact is, modern 'Witches" bear absolutely no resemblance to what we usually think of. Both ladies told me about how people in the community react to them out of true ignorance. Chaazy is right about everything she said in the first response here, including blaming Disney for the stereotypes.
How would you feel if you suddenly found yourself at a party where everyone was not Christians but seemed to be very nice, middle class, normal in all respects, except that their beliefs are nature and earth-centric?
One of the things I really like about these people is that, since Male and Female are fundamental concepts in their belief system, they all have tremendous respect for masculinity and femininity. And they usually have a very naural and healthy attitude towards nudity and sex as well.
Some of their practices can seem a little strange (love of bonfires, beating of drums), but the little time I spent socializing with them as friends has shown me that I prefer their company to many others.
One distinction though. Both ladies mentioned that "being a witch" was somewhat fashionable among young females and males into new age religions. These are the ones that wear black, etc. The Wiccans consider these people to be posers and pretty much insincere. From what I've seen first hand Wiccans only dress up for their ceremonies. Otherwise, they may wear some little piece of jewelry or other, but dress like you and I.
Believe me, you are safe, and you are more likely to be drawn into their religion because you will like it as opposed to them trying to convert you.

Re: Gentlemen we really are spellbound
Both my older sisters are wiccans. They are perfectly normal people. If you didnt know they were wiccan, you would never think a thing about it. Backfrom is right , they wont try to push it on you , if you ask ,they will discuss it with you. Their beliefs are to treat all living beings , and the environment with the respect they deserve.
