Star Power.........
I see astronomers have found another planet in the universe that mirrors our own. It's only 120 trillion miles from earth. You can't get there from here......
The indications are that the newly discovered planet is very similar in temperature as earth and a decent distance from it's sun. They also believe that there is water there. Gotta have water.....
Oh man, somewhere else to go on vacation other than LAS VEGAS......

Re: Star Power.........
Let's see now.....120 trillion miles from earth would mean at the speed of light at 186,000 miles per second, it would mean a journey of 50 years to reach that new earth-like planet. Thems motha f**kin' frequent flyer miles!!!!!!!
Probably the reason that planet was not spotted earlier is that it orbits a red giant star (1000 times larger than our sun) and the brilliant light from that star obliterated the reflected light from that newly discovered planet until the alignment of earth and that new planet were most recently in a particularly advantageous position and the HUBBLE was able to see it.

Re: Star Power.........
Astonomy is so cool, always have been a fan of Steven Hawkings, even if I can't follow every thing he says......BTW...did I hear that now black holes DON'T exists???
Got a huge bazooka looking telescope, have yet to use it, just don't know how.
(Some of you may remember me mentioning this telescope before, I bought it cheap from a meth addicted Jaohova Witness doode...believe me, the things he THOUGHT he saw in that thing, he's so much better off without it!!)

damn tweaker,..lost the owner's manual to the telescope, and I'm not sure at all how to use it...need to just spend some time this summer and figure it out with a little googling help...

It is so weird how we see a vission of a new land to travel to for fun adventure and possibly new life, while the people we voted to be incharge here probably see the new planet as an extension of war weaponry and are most likely already planning to build a missle site and a walmart there

Re: Star Power.........
You have to realize just how far that new found planet is from earth. 50 freakin' light years away! That's if you are in a space vehicle capable of light speed propulsion. The best that scientists can hope for anytime soon is possibly 50% speed of light. That would mean, at the minimum, 100 years to travel there and 100 years to return. #1, a team of space travelers (men and women) would have to volunteer to give up their life here on earth, would have to procreate in space and maybe their grand children, also born on the journey, might get to explore the new planet. That is assuming that, with the 100 years travel plus the 50 year lag time (the time it took for the light from that planet to get to earth), there is a viable planet on which to explore. Who knows, maybe the civilization there has a major war and annihilates itself. A lot of sh*t can happen in 150+ years.
Maybe the next time STEVEN HAWKING and I are rappin', I'll ask him to 'splain to me WTF I just said.

Re: Star Power.........
When you try and comprehend the vast distances in space, you feel like a grain of sand on the beach. With the MILKY WAY, 100,000 light years across and containing 100 billion stars with their own planets orbiting, there are more than likely at least 10% of those planets with just the right amount of water and moderate temperatures to sustain life in some form. If only half of the stars (50 billion) have only one planet with earth like qualities, that's a possible 50 billion planets, possibly with life on them. Some may have some sort of human like evolution and maybe some with only rudimentary life forms. The possibilities are mind f**kin'!!!

Re: Star Power.........
I was always into studying the stars even before joining the military. I often take the telescope out to watch them, I am always humbled by the masses & patterns. I like to go flying at nite, it's to neat being up in the air, some how makes it seem as though they're only a few feet from you
