Side effects
Since I've had my dentist dealings, I've been on Vicodin, and I'm so certain that fortunately, I don't think I could ever get addicted to pain killers, they just make me wanna curl up and sleep! As I recall my very early "experimental" years, so did weed, and coke just made me feel agitated and depressed.
Booze makes me feel happy as long as I don't try to do anything that requires any coordination and I have to drink the clear liquors, the dark ones tear me up!
So..how about you? Do you get the desired effects from your prescibed drugs?
Do certain types of alcohol work for you, but others don't?
Have you tried a street drug and wondered how it ever became so popular?

Re: Side effects
I have yet to find a pain killer that works for me. Tylenol 3 or vicodin that is. But then I don't usually take any more than prescribed. I tried weed when I was young and stupid. But got some really bad stuff, it was laced with something but don't know what. Now I get sick at just the smell of it. Alcohol is fine, no beer though, I'm allergic to it, but if I drink, its brandy 7. I will have a pina colada on a hot summer day. But never have enough to get drunk. just one or two, that's enough.

Re: Side effects
I found a good painkiller, but only one or two a day works well, Lortabs. If you are hurting it just "blurs out most of the pain so you can rest. If the pain subsides a bit and you take it anyway.....gets you a little "loopy". I can see how some people can get hooked on this stuff.
Now spirits: a little wine (a couple of glasses) is always nice and relaxing. In my younger, crazier days Jack Daniels was a good friend. During my time in Vietnam I tried sobriety three times and found it didn't do a thing for me so I stayed partially "blitzed" for almost the whole time I was there. I was functional at my job but didn't have to deal with bad things like reality.
Never tried any recreational chemicals but weed and all it did was give me a headache. I stayed with the booze, at least it was legal!

Re: Side effects
I am very fortunate when it comes to taking any prescription drugs. I do not get the side effects that may come with use of the prescriptions such as loose stools, hallucinations, erections lasting more than 4 hours, torette syndrome outbursts, enlarged breasts, nocturnal emissions, ect, ect.
I drink mixed drinks only. I drink them for the taste and not for their effects on my equilibrium. I stop short of that eventuality. Three or four BACARDI 151 and COKES will do that to ya....
In my youth, when I was a stupid f**k, I smoked some hemp and tried some hashish, but soon grew tired of the side effects. I was not at all that rebellious so I soon backed away from that sh*t and the purveyors of that lifestyle. I saw way too much bad stuff associated with that way of having fun......
What are the combined side effects of all that youthful experimentation and the mixed alcohol drinks, you ask? Well, I'm here in the WN forums, aren't I?????

Re: Side effects
After my littlest one was born, I'd had an incredibly bad delivery but he was the size of a mack truck, so they gave me Demerol...hello la la land. I was so happy and so relaxed, it was almost euphoric. My family said I asked the doctor, "Why didn't you give that to me weeks ago?" That stuff

Going ...
About 80% of your "poop" is bacteria. When you take strong antibiotics orally, it kills the bacteria in your "poop" giving you the runs.
Back to the topic:
The reason why many people don't like the feeling of vicodin is that it changes your brain chemistry, making you feel different. That's also the same reason why people get addicted to it.

Re: Side effects
I had nitrous oxide for the very first time at the dentist...I really didn't notice any strong effects from it, didn't feel high...but I didn't get the usual panic "buck and run" anxious feelings I usually get when I'm in the dentist's chair.

I was around 14 or 15 years old the first time experienced nitrous. I didn't and still don't know what happened but I do know the dentist had to have his sexy female assistant leave the room. My step mom said she came out giggling. And being a frustrated teenager at the time I can only imagine.
