Naps...
OK, took the kids to lunch and did a little shopping (yes, went to the shoe department...the rest as they say is history...lol). On the way home both of the little ones had fallen asleep in the car and I am thinking why not join them...but on the other hand I have alot to do...how many of you find yourselves napping in the afternoon and how often do you tend to take a nap?

Re: Naps...
I've been retired for about 4 years now and I sleep very erratically at night. I do nap for about 15-30 minutes after my
wife leaves for work at about 6:30am. I'll usually do this about twice a week.

Re: Naps...
Since my eyesight has gotten a bit worse, eyestrain wears me out....I have to nap or just shut my eyes once or more a day..

Re: Naps...
I use to. In one job I had an office with a couch. I would eat lunch at my desk, lock the door and take a 20-30 minute power nap. All while on my lunch break.
It was great!
Especially for those afternoon meetings.

Re: Naps...
I worked in middle management in quite a few manufacturing plants....it didn't take long for me to notice that just about all work accidents happened in the afternoon, between last break and quitting time. People just got very drowsy at that time with their repetitive jobs.

Re: Naps...
Some of the more enlightened (read mostly Japanese owned) manufacturing plants have a "power nap" time set up for employees after lunch. Good idea and they have better employee retention, better productivity and fewer accidents according to the article I read.
On a personal note: I take naps in the afternoon most of the time. It helps me a lot to run my "night owl" schedule.

Re: Naps...
When I worked the Graveyard Shift I'd sneak down to the cemetery, take the radio of scan where only my channel could be heard, kick back and grab me a little 10 -15 minute power nap..Or set up on the side of the road, turn up the volume on the radar (the tone and one annoying S.O.B.) just in case I dozed off to deep. Works great!!!

Re: Naps...
I try not to because I get headaches sometimes after. Otherwise I try to keep up and at 'em. If I get too comfortable, then I'll definately have the heavy eyelids because I'm just really really comfortable with my man there with me.
