Job Hunting we will GO........
I heard on the news today that prospective employers will not even consider an emailed resume that has a personal email address, especially when it sounds unprofessional, such as, "big9in4u@hotmail.com".
The spokesman went on to say that anything other than a professional email address will get that resume tossed in the round file.
My wife is in the painful process of searching for a new job, after 30 years at the same job. She has been out of the job hunting field since she was 19 y/o. Back in her day, after you searched the want ads, you showed up at the prospective place of employment and handed in a resume of your own creation and hoped to get a call from the personnel dept, now referred to as human resources, for an interview.
These days, you first go to a professional resume consultant, have him create a resume (about $300), then you email that resume to prospective employers, who will hopefully email you back a confirmation that they actually received your emailed resume. Then the waiting game begins.
Are there any tales of job hunting woes or successes, that you care to share with us?

Re: Job Hunting we will GO........
Ya know, that thing about having a professional email address is a good thing.
I'm trying to learn new skills myself, I've worked from home on my own for so long, I have nothing to put on a resume and desperatly need to find a full time job outside the house...which will mean of course, I'll hardly have any "fun time" for WebNaughty, but I gotta do what I gotta do...

Re: Job Hunting we will GO........
Funny you asked this yesterday. There was a post in the MSN.com, an article about good resumes.
Today there is another called 'worst' resumes.
Read both, they can't hurt.
