Rehearsals...
How many of us do this...you have to make a certain phone call or use the customer service desk, or must initiate a certain conversation, and for the sake of being clear, saying the right thing, or making something complicated more brief and simple....you kinda "rehearse" what you're gonna say to yourself?
How often do you do this? Does it really work for you"
It does for me, on phone calls, I hate talking on the phone, so I like to make it as brief and efficient as possible!

I actually type my messages out if they are for recording so they are perfect. I live with the phone on my ear, I'm always coordinating something or trying to catch up with kids, half of my business day is spent talking to people on the phone. The phone is my lifeline to friends and family, I'm a very social person in person and on the phone.

I generally think things through before I make the call and have all the documentation nearby, if needed. I try to relax and sit back vice standing - just to keep the tone relaxed as well.
I'd hate to be in customer service now-a-days. It seems 'the customer is always right' adage has gone to far.
Now, it seems, many people do not fess up to their own actions and are responsible.
It's always someone else who is wrong.

Oh, Ptr...and the customer who is wrong is always the rudest. I can't say the people I deal with are customers but usually by the time they make their way to my phone I have a file that is pretty thick on each of them and the cards are stacked against them and I'm the bad guy because they didn't do what they were supposed to do...ugh!!!

I do that Chazzy, i go over and over what i'm going to say, and if the person puts my back up, it all goes out the window, and a whole new line of conversation starts!!!!!

Hey sweety, give me a call and you can practice on me. I do prefer phone sex so, if you would, please say your lines real slow so I can keep up......my arm can't move as fast as it once could but I'm sure you won't have to talk for very long.....

I do that all the time. Before I call my customer first thing every morning I always make sure I have everything written down that I need to tell him. That way I feel like I'm prepared somewhat. lol

But I should add that my calls are not customer related anymore. I don't work in retailing so I don't worry so much about it now being I work in a receiving dept. Also.... I didn't really think about what to tell them, I'd tell them what I knew of the product and leave it at that. Help them out along the way with anymore questions they did have.

Okay...I was just on the phone with the billing department about my recent emergency room bill....already knew exactly what I needed to say, had my account number, pen and paper handy ...then I had to tell the guy to hold just a second, that the gawd awful yowling in the background is a cat in heat, and please gimme a minute to get her out of the room so we could continue to talk....
couldn't have rehersed that one....didn't even see it comin'
