Favorite Pooches
We are always talking about our animals...love of animals in the posts. What's your favorite type of dog/cat?
Do you get pound puppies or are you only out for one with a pedigree?

i'm pretty biased as i breed vizslas - they are a rare hungarian dog. beautiful and sleek and they make great family pets.

Best dog I ever had was a "Pound Puppy" about a year old. He was mostly Welch Corgi but he had long legs so the was a bit of terrier of some kind mixed. He herded anything that moved including me and the family. He really knew what we were talking about and if anything was mentioned about shopping or a trip in the car he would be at the door, leash in his mouth and tail wagging. He liked to ride even if it was around the block. His other passion was walking and exploring the neighborhood. A typical walk lasted at least an hour before he decided to go home for water and food. He got along with any cat that wouldn't run from him but usually ticked them off trying to herd them too.

My parents have had three dogs from the pound.
I have a Jackrussel i rescued called Ellie, she is wonderful. Then i was given a Jack cross with Beagle, and Staff and he is so funny looking but has an amazing temperament,he is called Eddie, but i call him Edward!!!

Pound Puppies Rules. Last two I had were both rescued from an animal shelter. The first one was a black lab and chow mix. When she had to be put down,(someone poisoned her) it was about three years before I got another one. Her mother was a registered Golden Lab and her daddy was what ever jumped the fence. The shelter told me to bring her back when she was 10 weeks old to be spayed,(for free) When I did Cassie wrapped her front paws around my leg and cried. She's almost 5 now and my constant companion when I am not at work.

We have a tortis shell cat - she is itty bitty and a beagle who is not all beagle but thinks she is human. She literally sits on the stairs. I never liked dogs but I have come around she is my baby.

Mostly pound puppies. If not from the pound, then from a neighbor down the street or something.
My best was a pound puppy who was doberman and shepherd mix. He was a great companion. I use to take him running with me in the woods and swimming in the creek or nearby lake.
Great memories!

Only being around 3 dogs when i grew up, they were a chocolate lab, black lab and the sweetest cutest maltese. I'd maybe want a few dogs/puppies only if the we were out in the countryside.
