Better add that.........
I've noticed that along with my posting inhibitions, I tend to use emoticons.

If I'm trying to be a smart ass (most of the time) or make a pithy remark about someone or something and fearing there may be a misunderstanding, I'll be sure to add an emoticon at the end of the post, to take the sting out of it. I'm really a f**kin' chicken when it comes to possible confrontations or possible hurt feelings.
----------------------------------------------------
Anyone else bail out by throwing an emoticon in their post to avoid problems?

Re: Better add that.........
Since everthing here is in type,
We don't have those things to go on like when we speak in person, body languae, tone of voice, etc...and things can get misunderstood. The emoticons help, but still can be overlooked when they get used so much.

I try to assume the best of everyone, assume they are not being mean or hateful, and I'm seldom ever disappointed that I made the assumption.

I try to use the emoticons, sprinkled about in places where I think I may be misunderstood. Overusing them, I think, after a while makes them a less noticed part of the background and they can loose their power to make an impact on the typed words.

Re: Better add that.........
I think the difference in adding emoticons amongst my posts would depend if I was trying to be grammatically correct and constructing a proper thought or if I was just throwing a post together, with no proper capitalizations, commas, ect, then emoticons seem to fit better and have more impact....

Did I make myself clear?

Re: Better add that.........
what the hell are you talking about VB. I think everyone of your post are directed at someone, and just trying to get a rise out of them. That is what I normally try to do, so that the forums do not get boring and stale. That is what keeps everthing so interesting. You never know if you are the next target, or who you will be targeting next...........

Re: Better add that.........
I love the fun, and sometimes I do feel the need to come in and smooth something out in a diplomatic way when fun gets, or is about to get..misunderstood. It sure does happen.
What I also love is to see a diverse bunch of people discuss their equally diverse opinions on things and do it without offending each other, that's just so way cool...
I like to see them "see each others point of view" which most of the time means they see it but not agree with it.

Re: Better add that.........
I don't get "pissed" around here VB, I sometimes get frustrated, annoyed, but mostly I just get a little tired.
Then it's time for me to just kinda hang low for a bit.

I remember clearly, your first few posts (about the mountain climbers) and I did my best "diplomatic" thing there when a few others were a wee bit upset at the new nicknames you were giving the climbers...but I know these people, and I knew it wouldn't take long for them to come to see you as they do now...a good person, that's fun to talk to, and has his very own way of voicing his opinion

When it comes to any forum or message board anywhere, it's always best to assume the best of everyone, time will tell if you're right or wrong about them!

I'm in agreement with you Chazzy about assuming the best of everyone unless children are involved, then I'm not so "forgiving" as they have to live with the choices of their parents...I've made mistakes as a Mom but I wouldn't ever put my children in harms way.

Ladies, I have always been one to say "WTF is the matter with stupid f**kin' people"? I have no degree of tolerance for that "I don't give a f**k" attitude.

Hey, I wasn't put on this earth to babysit dumb f**kin' people! They're adults and with that title comes responsibility.

CHAZZY, I did come on pretty hard at those dumb-ass climbers. To this day, I feel exactly the same way today! NO remorse on my part. Not everybody agreed with my take on it!!

Re: Better add that.........
Nope, I'm not saying that you came on too hard! I'm saying that when you were a bit of a noob, a very few here didn't quite know what to make of you and it's not unusual for that kind of thing to happen on any forum on any site.

I'm not sure why the welfare of children popped up here, but I'm glad that it did, and maybe I'm being a tad paranoid, but I do sense that maybe I offend some, or give them a wrong impression when child murderers are the topic. I keep saying over and over in those posts that my impulse is to harm these monsters in the worst way just as you all do...but please no one think for a second that I'm for coddling these horrid people that hurt children, my misunderstood stand on this topic is simply that vigilante justice puts good people in prison, and bring about new laws that end up protecting the wrong people (more ACLU stuff) and that once we get over our instant impulse to kill them in the worst way, that we think or work on other productive ways to protect our precious little ones.
Like Lunsford and Klos do, to work toward protecting all children, and preventing future harm to anyone by countering any stupid ACLU move to protect them by fighting with laws and changes. To somehow, be able to catch a child predator without a child dying first, is all I'm talking about, not protecting those who get caught because a child or children have died at thier hands.

Sorry for the long post...I talk too much...

Re: Better add that.........
I 100% agree with you on that Chazzy!!! I don't think in any of your posts you come across as defending people who hurt children. I can't imagine anyone defending these people...as I've said many times before the lawyers who try to get them off to get high profile attention and notoriety are just as sick!!!

Re: Better add that.........
Thanks Juils...it's just that my posts are sometimes long enough, and I do try to summarize as much as I can, which does increase the chance of a misunderstanding,

( I think Mark Lunsford, and parents like him are just amazing, almost super human, to be able to rise above it all, sit in a courtroom and hear all the sickening details, and still be able to restrain him self...it's just totally amazing how strong someone can be)

Re: Better add that.........
the only problem Juils, alot of these lawyers are public defenders, so they have to do their job. I am just thankful that more and more DNA is being used to prove guilt. I am a firm believer in an eye for an eye. if you kill, then you get killed, if you steal, you loose a hand, if you rape, you loose your pecker......

Re: Better add that.........
I beg to differ with you Troy...public defenders don't take on the high profile cases like you would think because they were beaten to the chase by ego boosting attorneys that thrive off of publicity. Think about it...its free publicity. They can't possibly buy that much press, not to mention the potential for wealthy clients that they can get off and never even hit the news. These guys are in it for the newsworthy stuff. Public defenders make like $35 to $50K a year and don't want these bastards on the street anymore than you or I.
