Posting inhibitions...
How many of us, type out an entire reply or new topic, then choose NOT to hit the submit button, because of second thoughts...or end up editing the hell out of ourselves for whatever reasons... like..."Oh, hell ...someone could take that the wrong way"...or some similiar kind of thought?
Do you at anytime, hover your fingertips over your keyboard, then decide..."Naw, better not!"

Re: Posting inhibitions...
Oh Chazzy! How did you know I did that! I'm going to have some time on my hands this weekend, so I'm planning on posting a more detailed version of the ice breaker that me and hubs got to do.

Re: Posting inhibitions...
Oh yeh, that's me! Mr Inhibited!! If you think my posts are straight at ya, you should see what I edit out!! The mods would have to delete me from the forums all together.
The things I could say about CHAZZ, REAL, BORED, MOON ect, ect. I would be referred to as the turd in the hot tub. But I edit out the real offensive stuff because I want to be perceived as the funny guy, the nice guy , not the crass and insulting guy.
If you only knew.....

Re: Posting inhibitions...
Ha! After reading what does end up posted, I'd love to see what you edit out, VB!
And REAL, I know what you do...because I'm so sure it's what we all do!
Kinda funny isn't it? What would it be like if we didn't edit and filter ourselves? Would it be better, funnier, sexier around here, or would there be fights and misunderstandings breaking out all over the place? Would it liven the place up or turn it into useless chaos?(The livening up, sounds good! The total chaos thing I might end up having to explain to abs!)
Hard to say I guess, maybe we could loosen up a few inhibitions....

Re: Posting inhibitions...
My edits are for content, naturally, but more for spelling and punctuation. I do not like to read misspelled words when all that's needed is for the author to hit "spell check".

Re: Posting inhibitions...
Spelling errors here don't bother me at all, and I do understand that when some post are a little difficult to read, it's because the poster is accessing the site from their cell phone, side kick, or similar device and not from a full featured note book or desk top...
When does spelling errors drive me crazy? I was reading a newspaper online yesterday, and one of the front page large bold headlines has a horrible misspelling of a word, not a typo...a horrible misspelling!
Oh yeah, I quickly hunted down the editor's email link and fired off a quick note to him...he did reply and the misspelling was corrected in minutes...but I wonder if their printed papers went out with that gawd awful misspelling...large and bold, right on the front page.

I'm not gonna say anything because it's stupid and pointless. It's just the internet but it bothers me so it's better left at that.

Oh yeh? Well I was thinking the same about you but I said to myself, "myself, better not say that. She's so thin skinned, she'll take it the wrong way".

Re: Posting inhibitions...
On occasion (translation: most of the time) I have second or third thoughts about what I ramble on about and censor myself. I guess that makes me kinda dangerous in chat. We all have this need to be perceived as witty and cool but don't always achieve it. A bit of thought and maybe a quick re-read is needed to keep us out of chaos but it might be fun to have a "free day" every once in a while where the ground rule is no offense taken....but impossible to achieve I think. Some people might be thought to be "thin-skinned" but the important part of any relationship (and this is definitely a relationship) is respect. Always put yourself in someone else's shoes before you hit the submit button. [Thank you absix for the edit feature]

Re: Posting inhibitions...
I think we all do. I think that as we grow wiser, not older that we realize that is better to think sometime before we open our mouths, or in this case type what is really on our minds.

Re: Posting inhibitions...
I think the rules here are pretty loose and free, I agree with the no contact info, be nice, curb hijacking stuff, but I do wish we could discuss religion and politics, but I understand where that rule comes from, a few would get very heated about topics, resort to flaming and name calling, then infect the entire site by taking it off the posted topic, and into the chatrooms and personal message system.
There are times that after I post something, like a previous post in this very thread, I'll wonder if I may have inadvertantly offended someone, but then think "I'm sure if I did, they would contact me via PM and talk to me about it"

Re: Posting inhibitions...
I'm very opionated...LOL...I know that shocks everyone that knows me...I usually read what I post before I submit it and while my intention is to not offend anyone you also have to realize we are all very different people, we have very different perspectives and the great thing about the forums is that you can say what you want to say and unless you are being completely ugly you will be "heard" by others. This place is an equal opportunity opinion fest...everybody has a voice and can be heard here.

Aren't we the opinionated one now?

Re: Posting inhibitions...
i proofread what i post most all the time..not so much for the likelihood of offending anyone...doesn't matter to me..i can't think for someone else..but more to ensure that this is what i intend to say and is that message communicated with the message...

Chaz are you looking over my shoulder?? As a new member I hold myself in reserve until I felt out the "temperature" of the other members. Even then I won't "pounce", unless invited, There is nothing wrong with respecting someones feelings.

Re: Posting inhibitions...
For me, I try to say what I feel and try not to have too many spelling errors.
And I like reading VB's op ed.
Most of the time I'm on-board.
