Prostitution
Should it be illegal, legal or legal and regulated?
What kind of impact on society can you see for one or all of these choices?

Re: Prostitution
It should be legal and regulated, both parties need to be protected in all aspects. I feel there would be fewer rapes and people can have their fetishes fulfilled.
It has been something that has be going on for 100's of years and i don't think it is wrong in anyway, if that is what someone chooses to do. There are some people who have needs and have no where else to turn. At the end of the day they are performing a service, and as long as they are consenting adults, who practice safe sex at all times and have regular health checks then good luck to them.

Re: Prostitution
I think it should be legalized along with Marijuana, then we could tax both of them....

Re: Prositution
It falls under the category of "they aren't bothering me and its not overtly dangerous to them." Yes, it should be regulated to protect the prostitutes from harm (both client-wise and pimp-wise), just like it is in Las Vegas. Hrmm, vacationing in Vegas doesn't sound so bad right about now... (For those following my story...)

Re: Prositution
it should be legalizes, taxed and monitored by first rate physicians as well. the national debt would probably disappear within 5 years if it was legal in all 50 states !!

Re: Prositution
If you taxed it, it'd probably only take a year, and that's just from all the politicians...

Re: Prositution
We'd also likely see a decline in the teenage pregnancy rate. We used to have a little thing in Texas called the Chicken Ranch (the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas was based on its true story). One day I heard my Mom talking about it and even she thought it was a good thought which was shocking because she was such a conservative.
I say, STOP...Sales Tax On Pussy!!!

Re: Prostitution
Does anyone think that legalized prostitution might effect the crime rate, considering so many street walkers do it just to support a drug habit? If they can no longer support their habit by hooking, will they turn to other illegal activity, like petty theft, robbery, burglary?
Could legalized prostitution effect the rate of divorce, or even domestic violence cases? Could legalized prostitution make or break a marriage or relationship?

Re: Prostitution
They will have a regular income and maybe being in a safe environment and knowing it is legal may help them to get clean from drugs. And men will do it regardless, so they are putting their marriage at risk, however, some relationships break up though lack of sex, this may be a way of keeping them together.

Re: Prostitution
I agree hotbubblegum...if someone is going to stray it is going to happen. I'm not certain it matters about how much sex they get at home it is about what is lacking in the relationship or what the person is feeling inside at the time. Then again, I have friends that cut their husband's off at the drop of a hat...it is a cycle...men need the physical part of sex and women need the emotional. If you aren't giving them the physical then they won't give you the emotional. I think legalizing prostitution would give the man a more "safe" place to find sex to relieve the physical needs they have if they aren't getting it at home.

Re: Prostitution
dont know about anywhere else but there's so many girls that'll just give it up freely these days i'm not sure why anyone would pay?? but i think a few regulated and highly restricted "houses" might be a step in the right direction...
maybe even a means for those girls selling themselves for a habit to kick the habit in a safer situation and get back on their feet. i personally dont see it any different than the pornstars. they get paid to fuck too.

Re: Prostitution
Overcrowding in jails for non compliance? Would it put a huge burden on overworked, understaffed police departmanets and local court systems? Would it burden us with more taxes to inforce a regulated prostitution market, or put more bucks into the economy with fines and taxes?

Legalize it!!! Hey, it works in NEVADA. They regulate the hell out of it there. You wanna play, ya gotta pay. I personally wouldn't pay to play but that's me. I don't see prostitution as being anymore detrimental than alcohol is and that is taxed and regulated.

What she said. In addition, this has been successful in Nevada for many years. The women at the brothels there are required to have aids/STD testing monthly. Legalizing this may also be a way to cut down on the pimps that pray upon young runnaways.

tax the "use" of this service itself to cover the overhead cost. i mean if the porn industry can pencil out the details and make billions why should this be different?

Re: Prostitution
Sometimes it's hard to see which dominos will fall next...what will come of a butterfly in Japan flapping it's wings...it's a chaotic universer for sure.
If there is any real good reason for legalizing and regulating prostitution, I'd like to see it focused on the addict streetwalkers, and their desperate, health careless customers.
