Dependant or independant
Have you crossed traditional sexist boundaries?
Men, can you sew on a button, make simple mending on your own clothes, cook a decent meal,?
Women, can you handle simple diys' around the house, like fixing a leaky faucet, can you change your own flat tire?

INDEPENDANT: I learned to do that when I was very young, parents were divorced, and mom had to work 2 jobs to keep us afloat.

Living alone I have little choice, but if I have something I need sewed & look really nice, I take it to somebody who is much better at it than me.

Re: Dependant or independant
I do what I can. Not very good at anything. If I have to I will try and fix things but usually make a bigger mess, or it takes me alot longer than it should. I think I could change a tire but have never had to.

I actually like to cook, and it's even edible most of the time I can sew a little but like NRG if I want it to look nice I let someone else do it.

Re: Dependant or independant
Warren can sew if he has to, lol, nothing like time in the military to teach a man that. I can change oil or a tire, even fixed a busted tailpipe once, in the rain at a gas station...I could because I'd watched him do it before!

Re: Dependant or independant
I have been pretty independent - I can do minor repairs around the house (the internet helps with instructions), but I also feel pretty free to hire someone better, who has more time, if I can't get the job done.

Re: Dependant or independant
Of course I can sew, I used to sew my G.I.Joe clothes. I can do every household chore there is. I can cook pretty reasonable, my mom made sure of that. When she was cooking, I used to pull a kitchen chair up, and cook while standing on the chair.

Yes can do quite well in the Kitchen. My mom used to cater food, she made sure all of us could cook before leaving home. I work in construction, so household problems,..... no problem

OK...I'm going to tell you all, I am a very girly girl...BUT I can mow the lawn, I have been known to rip out bathroom walls, I don't mind getting my hands dirty with DIY projects and I love to get my hands in the ground, i.e. gardening. I do not, will not, and have no intention of EVER working on a vehicle. Not putting women down that can or will, my mother-in-law is a regular shade tree mechanic and I adore her. I have a cell phone not just to call my friends but for emergencies like a flat on the side of the road.

And I guess that is to call Mr. Juils or whatever his name is. I will give you my number, and you can call me anytime.

Re: Dependant or independent
Definitely independent from back in my early teenage years. To include sewing (and not just mending socks, but with a sewing machine), laundry, ironing, and cooking. I make some great European dishes!
Ladies.....anyone for dinner and a sleepover?

Re: Dependent or independent
When I lived as a bachelor I had to do all the domestic stuff myself and I am comfortable doing minor sewing tasks and I do cook and bake often. I do all the vacuuming.
