Prized possessions..
From a strictly material point of view (excluding, health, friends, family, etc ...) what's do you consider to be your most prized possession?
A high ticket item like plasma TV, new car or some heirloom with special meaning?

Re: Prized possessions..
I would have to say it is a toss up between an antique sideboard from one side of my family and a German Helmet from the other side of the family.

I have an 18ct gold wedding band that my grandad had made for my nan, and she left it to me when she died, so it is very precious to me.

It was something i had always wanted, and she used to say she would never go anywhere, and as a little girl i believed that!!! I love the ring and have worn it since the day i was given it.

Re: Prized possessions..
I have old piece of pottery dated 1902 that my G-grandma had passed on to her, and then there is a picture that is suppose to be a museum quality chalk drawing. Story goes that this drawing used to hang in a museum in Phoenix, AZ, but who know for sure. Both of these items show my Indian heritage.

Re: Prized possessions..
Simple. My Fender Newporter Accoustic 6 string. Not the most expensive guitar brand new (they dont even make that model anymore) but it has an amazing sound and fret neck. I have 5 guitars total, 4 of which are Fenders, but the Newporter is by far my favorite to play!

the coffee set my grandmother gave me, 1 of 2 she brought from post war Japan, but one got "lost" in the mail, when she sent it to me, so I think it got lifted by a family member. Also, my books that are signed to me. I have a couple and m always looking for more.

Re: Prized possessions..
I have several pieces of furniture that came from my Mom's house, one in particular that she gave me right before she died but it took me until last week to go to her house and pick it up...it made her passing very real.
I have several very nice pieces of jewelry but the one I treasure most is the mother's ring that was designed for me with princess cut stones and diamonds. The funny part about this was that we thought our family was complete when my husband had this designed...three months later (and a month prior to my husband's snip surgery) we found out our littlest one was on the way. Our jeweler said he can't take this custom piece apart he'd have to start all over again so I'm guessing I'll be getting another really nice piece with the little guy's birthstone...lol.

My GMC.... which, by the way, a guy stopped by the other day and asked if we wanted to sell it. I said "not just no, but HELL no!..." Ok, not those words exactly...

hows she coming? i dont need to run you down a mirror or something do i??
and this thread actually got me thinking last night... i dont have an answer. i got a few things that mean a little to me for sentimental reasons but theres nothing i hold above anything else. and materialistically the best i got is my 02 S10 step side that i've dropped and customized quite a bit and even that is due to go.

Re: Prized possessions..
She's comin' along pretty good, actually. Still needs a few small things done.... it's hard to find the time or the money anymore. Besides that, with the gas prices going up again, we'd go broke driving it! I go out back and start her up every day and just sit there, daydreaming *sigh*

Re: Prized possessions..
I'm also a sucker for my kids cards that they make or give me...I can't throw them out. I always feel like if someone sends you a card you should keep it to look back on during sad times. I still have cards from when my husband and I were first dating (circa 1983)...can't throw them away, I just can't...oh, and my scrap books that I made in high school with crazy things like pom poms we made at Taco Bell from straws and napkins and a Papa Smurf some girlfriends of mine and I "smurfnapped" from this really cute guy in our class...can you say thank goodness for rubbermaid containers and a big attic?

Family heirlooms from Grandma's jewelry, books, and pictures, to Grandpa's fishing rods, guns and pictures. Pictures say a thousand words, but memories last a life time.

Re: Prized possessions..
My most prized possession is my marriage to the most gorgeous, thoughtful, funny, giving, sexy, trusting woman I can imagine ever being with. Mere possessions, be it my big screen dlp television, my bmw, my house, are replaceable. If they are lost, they can be replaced. I have no heartfelt attachment to them. My wife on the other hand, is part of who I am and therefore, cannot be replaced. When she goes, I go!!!!!!

That is so sweet Bill, I would have to say that I feel very much the same way. When my dad died, I was just a young kid, and the only thing that I really got that I wantes was his leather nail pouch that he used when he was in construction, and building houses. I would have to say that is one thing that I will never part with.
