Cell phones with cameras
Can the fact that just about everyone can, will or does own a cell phone with a cam, change anything about social behaviour?
Will it cause a decrease in any type of crime, or bad behaviour when a person knows, or even sees a cam cell phone pointed at them?
Would you consider it rude, or privacy invasion to be out and about having fun, letting your hair down, and see that someone is recording you?
Could the use of cell phone cameras ever get to point of being a nusiance to us, or remain only a helpful gadget feature?

Re: Cell phones with cameras
Any of you guys heard of happy slapping? It started off as a joke between frieds, theyd slap eachother from behind when they didnt suspect it and record it on their cameras... Around here its become really serious and ended up with spiteful young teens beating the stuffing out of people and recording it on their phones...
Any of guys seen that?

I actually saw it happening a little while back, it was horrible. Some poor guy walking along and 3 dudes they jumped him from behind... I intervened and they lashed out at me too!

Re: Cell phones with cameras
Chazzy you post some really tough questions! :p I dont think its particularly the camera influencing the behaviour, people like that would cause trouble regardless... Just now they can show their mates what they been up too

Re: Cell phones with cameras
Happy slapping only started because it could be recorded with mobiles, so thats a very bad thing.
I would find it very annoying if someone was videoing me with their phone without my permission.
They can be good for recording crimes ect, so in that way they are good. If people used them like they are mean't to be used, they would be a very good thing to have, lots of fun too.

I once caught a guy videoing me while i was eating a banana on a train......what a freak eh? I think its the sad person to blame for what they do, rather than the gadget itself!

I agree, it's not the phone camera's that cause bad behaviour, its the idiots that use them in that way.

I agree with HBG. Let's not the fault of technology, but the moron's that use it for the wrong purpose.

Re: Cell phones with cameras
it like that with a lot of thing are guns bad or just the people who use them wrong.... are cars bad or only the people who drive them when there drunk.. I found this kind of funny but I had to replace my phone a while back and I couldn't find one with out a camera in it

Re: Cell phones with cameras
At the gym I go to cell phones are banned in the locker room. The reason why? Girls were taking pics of girls that were unaware that they were being photographed. Then share the pics with their boyfriend, and the men in the gym were doing the same thing. Sharing pics with the other girls in the gym. My opinion is its not the phones that are the problem. Its the people with them.

Re: Cell phones with cameras
I think our society pushes the limits of right and wrong every day. Impulsive behavior seems to be the norm. This is no different than the boys at our school crawling up above our dressing room and removing a corner ceiling tile to get a peek. Everyone wants to see it is just that technology makes it easier and more accessible for people to cross the right or wrong line. It is the people...I use my phone to take pictures of my kids...its the choices in life. Just like gone are the days that a Mom finds a Playboy under her son's mattress...instead she finds him looking at internet porn, same principle...different way of getting to it...we are part of an instantaneous society...gratification of all kinds is just a hop, skip, and keystroke away.

Re: Cell phones with cameras
When we were in high school, we never would try to sneak a peek. We let them come to us, we'd throw some mice in the locker room, and wait for the girls too come out....
