Relay for Life
As many of you know my life has recently changed due to losing my mother to cancer...and one of our own, my very dear friend Lizonya is valiantly championing over cancer herself. I am going to be participating in the Relay for Life through the American Cancer Society (I'm not posting a web address here but you can google it and type Relay for Life into the search engine on the ACS website). I encourage you each to participate in this great cause. In the last eight months of my life I've lost my sweet Momma, prayed for Liz, and just recently my sister-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer and is just beginning her road to healing.
Take a moment to find an event in your area and please participate. In my life I have held the hands of two of my best friends as we each buried a parent to this horrific disease. Most encouraging of all, I know survivors...help out today and let's not have our children holding their best friends hands as they bury us...

Re: Relay for Life
You what, until you actually said something about this, I really never gave it a second thought. I think that we all have been touched by this terrible disease. I have lost two grandparents and an uncle to cancer, I have an aunt that is a survivor, not to mention that are several friends that either have, had, or are now gone. We need to give thanks to those of us who have never had it or are survivors. But even more importantly, we must support those who are now affected by this. It doesn't matter if they are currently fighting it or if its a good friend or loved one that is fighting it. Some people here are not able to contribute money, but we all can keep them in our thoughts and prayers, and even more importantly, give them a really big hug and kiss just so they know that we do care, and they are not alone.

I don't think you have to donate money to be involved, you can just walk for the people you care about...thoughts and prayers are always welcome!!!

Hey Juils: i was on the committee organizing a Relay for Life here in Miami last year...and will participate in it this year as well..
..my Mom passed away from lung cancer 3 years ago..so it is dear to me as well.
I invite everyone at WN to make a small effort and be a part of this terrific event in your area of the country...monetary contributions are of course welcome and used to fight cancer..which will be overcome in our lifetime...

Re: Relay for Life
I know how you feel,I lost my Mother to cancer in 1991 when she was 59 and my Brother had leukemia but survived it only to die from a heart problem at 40 later, so I give or help as much as I can when I can,so anything you can do will help someone.I think Relay For Life is a great thing to do.
