Organ Transplants
Have you heard about the 3 poeple that received organ transplants in Italy. The organs where mislabled as being good, but as it turns out, the donor was HIV positive. Now that sucks..

Re: Organ Transplants
That is dreadful, these kind of mistakes should not happen nowadays. Those poor people.

Re: Organ Transplants
I would agree with both of you. Here these people and their families had their hopes up for a brighter future, only to be crushed by someones mistake.

Re: Organ Transplants
I wonder if any charges will be filed against the department/agency or the employee responsible for this mistake?
Maybe just accepting what a label says shouldn't be enough for the surgeon and staff to accept, and a second screening should be done before the surgery?

dont know what that means, but it sounded funny at the time...
to be honest with ya, that would really suck. but then again there are people who would say that this is what happens when doctors start playing God...

Re: Organ Transplants
I have indicated on my drivers license that in the event of my demise, I wish to have my organs available for donation for transplant to any person in need of them. I hadn't thought of any potential issues pertaining to disease. I assumed that a doctor would make a final determination as to the health and transplantability of my organs. I will be out of my misery so I probably won't care what happens at that point. I only wish when the time comes for me to be parted out, I will not pass on anything other than a healthy organ that some needy soul can accept and then, for that person to live on and to have a happy, healthy life.

Some of those screening take so much time that it would render the organs useless.
FYI

Re: Organ Transplants
As the bumber sticker says.
"Don't take your organs to heaven - God knows we need them here"
Not really a sacrifice - but such a gift!
PS. Don't forget to let your family know so they can be supportive when the physician asks.
