Germ-phobias
Do germs freak you out under certain circumstances?
Do you ever worry about who's handling your food at a restaurant?
Or have a decision dilemma as to what stall to use at a public restroom, use paper towels to turn faucets and door knobs, use your feet to flush, etc...?
Do you just hate it when a co-worker stumbles in sneezing, coughing with a fever mumbling about how they sick they are?

Re: Germ-phobias
nope. If I never get exposed to the germs, how am I going build a resistance to them? Now there are some that I have watch out for very close, like hep-C, HIV, or even any dealings with body fluids, etc....so at work we always glove up, and if we know that there is a boat load of stuff , I will double glove. But if by chance I get some body fluids on my clothes, work will give us new clothes on the spot, and we can shower before returning to work.

Re: Germ-phobias
Yeah a little.. anytime going to the bathroom i always wash my hands and when at work or anywhere in public.. i use the towel that i used to dry my hands to open the door then throw the towel away. Just the little things like that bothers me.. not so much at home because I know whose been where for the most part.

Never think so much about the food (at the grocery store or...) when going out to eat. If i did know what the food went through before getting onto my plate before setting it in front of me.. then I probably would curse off food altogether from anywhere even from home probably.

Re: Germ-phobias
The hand rails on escalators freak me out...ewwww!!! Oh, and I can't tell you how I would like to wear a mask when on an airplane during cold and flu season. Once I was stuck in Boston for an extra few days because I'd flown out on a plane full of coughing/hacking people and I ended up in the hotel room running an extremely high fever...not the way I want to spend my time in one of my favorite cities in the U.S.

Re: Germ-phobias
having worked in variuos restaruants for nearly 20 years...i can say that most of the time some one gets sick from what they eat is caused by how they order, (i.e. eggs sunny side up, rare steak etc.) most state health codes require that all employees must wash their hands after using the restroom, touching any part of their body, especially hair, nose, and mouth. if some one is carrying a sickness, and they do not follow these rules, and people get sick, the health dept. can trace the sicknes back to the restaruant, and make all employees take urine samples and stool samples to find the source of the infection...and the employee may be held accountable for the people who got sick...

Re: Germ-phobias
I'm aware and a bit cautious in public restrooms, but my biggest germ phobia is pot luck buffet style dinners.
Most places I've worked usually had these several times a year, and employees brought in main courses, side dishes and desserts from their own kitchens.
These were the same employees that I share a bathroom with, and have often seen walking directly from the toilet stalls to the door, with out ever stopping to wash their hands.

When we go to the movies we always sit in the back row of the theater to stay clear of all the sick, sneezing inconsiderate people.

Re: Germ-phobias
I've never been a germaphobe and I never sheltered my kids from the outside world because of germs like some people do. My 10 year old has become a germaphobe lately. He was washing his hands to the point where they were raw. My 6 year old is quite the opposite. It's frustrating watching them play together. My older boy won't touch things after his brother has touched it. He's constantly telling him to go wash his hands. I've pretty much got it under control now, I hope. His hands aren't raw anymore and he doesn't wash them every five minutes. I have a slight OCD and I'm really hoping this isn't my fault.... but I think it'll pass.

I would think in the back there would be more "stains" on the seats!

I try not to think about it because if I did I wouldn't eat or do anything anywhere but home.

Re: Germ-phobias
I have been washing my hands so often now that it is automatic. However I will tell you = it is better to just boost your immune system by eating right, staying hydrated, and getting your immunizations on time then to think you can out run all the germs in the world.

Just my thoughts!

Gawd I get so embarrased when people know the real reason we sit in the back row
