is it just me ?
for a few years now , i have noticed the english language being assaulted...no, MURDERED!!!!parents, PLEASE, do not allow your kids to speak or write these words this way.....what..or wat, u, or you, lets pay more attention to the way our children speak and write(even here on the computer). is it just me, or are more people concerned with this trend? i was raised in a home where the word"aint" got you a swat beside your head!my late mother was a sweet, Irish lady with manners and grace,and although she wasnt rich, she maintained an air of dignity at ALL times, even when she was dying of a painful type of cancer. she taught me a valuable lesson.... it is NOT what you say, rather the way you say it.........

It's just you... "az fa az wat u r talk n" about is a result from PDA's. Try typing that paragraph on a Blackberry and you'd be lookin' for shortcuts too. Kids have been screwing with the english language for a century. This is just the latest fad. Wait until the dictionary changes to look up the creative shortcuts...

Its all because of the internet, text messaging, and the like. It would be nice if people would type the whole word, but its hard to type that much on your phone key pad. So I do understand that. But when you have a full key board, type the word.

I'm no dear, I'm the asshole,  and Ma's is the bitch,  just ask her. I'm no spring chicken either. I think its more of a speed ,efficiency issue than anything else. I would agree, that at times some are just too damn lazy. Don't ya just hate change, sometimes.

It's not just kids, often right here, you'll see a thread post here typed by an adult who primarily uses text messaging/chat language.
I would think that after awhile of doing it, a person can forget basic skills of writing, kind of like becoming dependant on a calculator for basic math.

thanks chazzy, that is exactly the point i was trying to make.it doesnt bother me that i type quite slowly, just the younger set. guess i was young once too, but i do not remember EVER being in that big a hurry.....

I don't even like using abbreviations, not because I'm all anal about spelling, punctation, sentence construction and all that...it's just my thing, I don't want to lose what little high school english I've managed to maintain over the years.
I still prefer to balance my checkbook and do simple daily math with a pen and paper, for the same reason.
I do often when posting or writing an email use words like "gonna, kinda, gotta, etc..." just to put that casual edge on expressing myself in typing.

to me it's just a matter of personal expression, you type what and how you feel, but you must admit that the main reason that young people began talking this way is largely to be blamed on music especially rap music, how ever, i am not judging rap music just because of that....
