Share my celebration? (Missouri kidnappings)
A little boy went missing from his school bus stop Monday, about 10 minutes from where I live. This cast such a mood of panic, disbelief, and fear for all of us in the surrounding communities.
Every nite, Nancy Grace, and so many other media personnel, gave us the grim odds of anyone ever seeing this child alive again....
The following is a cut and paste of a news bulletin from a few moments ago...
******************************************************
Two missing Missouri boys, one missing since 2002, the other since Monday, have been found alive, law enforcement officers confirm.
Shawn Hornbeck was last seen riding his bike to a friend's house in 2002. Ben Ownby disappeared Monday.
Both were found in an apartment in Kirkwood, Missouri, and appear to be in good health, police said.
Police arrested Michael J. Devlin at the apartment and charged him with one count of kidnapping. Bond was set at $1 million.

Re: Share my celebration?
I can't even begin to imagine the purest joy being felt by Shawn Hornbeck's loved ones tonite...he's been missing for four years!
We all assumed the worst had happened to him after all this time, what else could you think? But he was never forgotten, everyone remembered his face from the posters and flyers, and no one ever forgot his name.

Re: Share my celebration?
How wonderful, I can't imagine someone taking one of my children. Since Elizabeth Smart's disappearance from her bedroom not a night goes by that I don't check windows in their rooms, doors around the house several times and then pray a special prayer that they are safe. The elation the parents and community must be feeling can only be compared to giving birth to a child...
I celebrate this news with you Chazzy...I'll keep these families in my thoughts and prayers as whatever the situation they will have adjustments to make...

i hope that his parents understand that although they must be completely relieved that he is home, they need to deal with the fact that he may suffer from the psychological effects of being taken away from his family for so long...i know that with GOD's help that they will get through these rough and trying times and everything will work out fine...

Re: Share my celebration?
Yeah, lonelyandhorny...this boy's ordeal isn't over with yet.
Few details are available right now, but Shawn was living with a sex offender not that far from his own home for these past four years. I'm sure this sex offender had to have terrorized, threatened or manipulated Shawn or Shawn would have made some effort to get to a phone or run away first chance he had.
The same must have been going on for Ben Ownby, he was kidnapped six days ago, and they were both living with this sex offender in a resident ail area. Something kept these boys from trying to escape or call out for help.

Re: Share my celebration?
I just don't get how someone could get their "jollies" from hurting a child...I was molested by a neighbor growing up and I would NEVER perpetuate that behavior onto anyone...wrong is wrong, I just can't get my mind around this sort of thing, but I guess that is what separates me from the animals that do...

Sorry I stole you're thunder in my own post. You went for a review of the breaking story of the boys being found including details such as names of the boys and the man arrested while I went for the rant about the defendant. Similar thinking, different approaches. Are you sure we're not one and the same person? Nah, impossible! You're so gorgeous and I'm.......well not gorgeous!!!!

No problem VB...we posted from two completely different POV's of the same story. That's good!
My POV focused on the incredible event that after 4 years, Shawn was found alive. None of us in this area ever forgot about him and his family,
I live very close to where Ben was taken, it's less than a ten minute drive from my house and I have spent allot of time in Beaufort with friends and people that live there. It's a very, very tiny little town where it seems that everyone is a neighbor that you feel you've known forever,
When Ben Ownhy disappeared, the entire diverse population of at least three counties became one army all sharing only one concern.
The only way possible that this could have been prevented form happening to Ben is that he would have to be handcuffed to at least one adult, 24/7.

I guess thats what is nice about this town, I don't have to deal with that crap, gangbangers, rapist, & the like.Everyone knows everyone else, & have for years. We had one perv, in this town, but once he figured out we didn't want him here, like nobody would have anything to do him, no job, no house to rent, nothing. He then decided to move on.

Please LIZ, stop the flattery before I become a legend in my own mind!
I prefer to call what I do as oral sex , the act of pleasuring a woman by manipulating her genitals with my mouth and tongue to the point of her having an orgasm or a series of orgasms. To say "I eat good pussy", sounds so crass, so juvenile. Can we refrain from the gutter language and bring the banter above waist level where it belongs ....lol

They have showed this on the news over here, and its wonderful that they have found both boys especially Shawn, how his parents must have felt when they were told. It's always something you worry about when you have children, I'm lucky that it is safe here, but then again, nowhere is 100% safe when there are so many sick people in the world.
It's so good to hear good news regarding missing children, as we have had our fair share of child murders over here and it's devastating to hear. But it's good to cry for something good for a change.

Re: Share my celebration?
I just watched these families on Oprah and was amazed at their calmness. I realize they have to walk a fine line in what they say about the offender because of the court case but I was amazed at the courage it took for them to talk about the ordeal. I applaud Sean and his family for making him "real" to the media without a sense of over exposure and I applaud Ben's family for making the decision not to let him appear. These families and boys have a long road ahead of them and with alot of love I pray they will be OK. To the two police officers, a round of hugs and applause for acting on their gut instincts!!!

Re: Share my celebration?
I was totally taken back recently, when some began speaking out that they had suspicions about Shawn, that he somehow must be involved in all this willingly because they feel he could have escaped many times, or cried for help during the four years he was held captive by Devlin...ridiculous!!!!
Geez, I can think of dozens of cases, right off the top of my head where grown adults, even large groups of grown adults were brainwashed and manipulated out of their own free will by a another adult...to even think that somehow, a terrorized and threatened child could do better???

Re: Share my celebration? (Missouri kidnappings)
OH don't you worry about that little sick bastard, he'll get his when he gets to prison. He will get his ass handed to him, serveral times over. They will probably have to put him into protective custody. Usually in this type of high profile case, they would ship him to another state until the heat was off him, but in this case, I don't think that will work. And for those of you who want bury him under the jail, NO WAY. That's too good for him.

Re: Share my celebration? (Missouri kidnappings)
I hate that Devlin is pleading "Not Guilty"....it's his only chance.
This plead will result in a court room trial with the boys as witnesses and he's hanging some hope on the possiblity that he will still be able to make Shawn feel threatened, and intimidate him, and that interferring with Shawn's credibility as a witness.
If Devlin were at all human, he would not force these boys to go through the trauma of a trial and just plead guilty.
But there's not an ounce of human in him that he would further harm these boys by making them relive over and over their ordeal just so he might come out a little better for the jury.

No "dark side" that any of ya'all have, can be as dark as Devlin's...count of charges against him in the Hornbeck/Ownsby kidnapping case total 71 at this time.
2 counts being kidnapping, the rest are for assault, sexual assualt, and sexual sodomy.
When his trial begins, only then will any of us really find out how deeply sick and dark this man is.

You know sweetheart, when the trial does begin and the state presents all the charges and their evidence against that puke, us normal people are not going to be able to absorb such depravity. We are not wired to understand how someone can do such things to anyone, much less a juvenile.
You just want to take someone like this and throw him from a plane at 35,000 ft. I don't really know a appropriate punishment for what he did.

Re: Share my celebration? (Missouri kidnappings)
The scary thing about Devlin is...his ability to just blend in.
He held the same job for 25 years, was an active part of his own imediate family. He had friends and co-workers, but he never appeared to anyone to be anything but a normal hardworking guy.
Most sexual predators don't have that kind of control to pull that off... to "appear" normal, to not set off any "red flags", no criminal history or appear on any sex offenders list.....this kind of stuff makes Devlin the worst kind of sexual predator.

The latest on Michael Devlin, who is accused of abducting a teen and holding him for four years, now faces federal charges of producing child pornography.
The more charges the better! They can just keep ringin' them up! Bastard...pleading "Not guilty" and making those boys relive thier nightmare by having to testify in court!!

You realize that with the federal charges pending, the local prosecutor might be tempted to let the feds have a crack at him. The feds don't offer any plea bargains to avoid a trial. They don't worry about running up a large tab to get a conviction. Money is not a consideration with them. Hell, they'll probably through in civil rghts violations against the boys.
That puke is history!!

I am glad the boys don't have to appear in court, they shouldn't have too.
It amazes me how these sick F***'* think they have had their rights violated or they say they didn't do the crime, especially when caught red-handed. The court systems have forgotten about the victims.

Is he pleading to Federal charges? If so that kind of sucks because he'll go to a Federal prison. Federal prisons don't have the kind of population this guy deserves...he belongs in a prison where he can meet the people that don't like child predators and molesters!!! I know this may sound terrible but I would like to see someone like him do time in a place with those that may give him a taste of his own behavior.

Okay, just finished reading a little more...
Devlin will plead guilty to federal charges. Then he will be taken immediately to prison to serve multiple life sentences.
There are quite a few unsolved missing children cases in this area that some feel strongly that Devlin might have been involved with, I just hope if that is true, he will come clean and let the families of these other missing children know exactly what became of them and even where to find the remains to bring home.
