movies...theater, dvd, or cable tv?
which would you rather do, see a movie in the theater, wait for it on dvd, or wait until it comes on cable?
are there any movies you've seen on dvd that you wish you would have seen on the big screen?
i wish i'd seen the "Lord of the rings" trilogy on the big screen.
maybe you've got on of 'dem 'dar fancy big screen tv's with hd and surround sound and don't need to go to the theater?

Re: movies...theater, dvd, or cable tv?
Most of the time I watch movies on DVD, but if there's a film I really want to see and there's not a good quality DVD rip available for download I'll go to the cinema.
I've got a room specifically for watching films with plasma TV and surround sound (can't wait until the blu-ray vs HD-DVD war has been settled so I can get a hi-definition DVD player).
A lot of the time DVD quality films are available for download at the same time they come out at the cinema, so I'll pick the comfort of my own home, anytime.

the price of going to the cinema is outrageous, although it is fun and special. it would have to be a really big budget film to get me to go. i prefer to wait for the dvd, however, i hate it when my dvds are overdue. they really getcha either way, don't they?! and cable's a joke. they seldom play anything worth watching. that's my rant for the day.

I'm on the way to your house, it sounds way cooler than what I have...when I'm there snuggled up on the couch with my slippers you can explain that whole blu-ray war thing to me...

since i already have cable, i like it best. was living in a place (before this one) that had satelite and it was ok, at least till the weather got bad. we always lost the signal. plus the fact i can sit and watch movies in my underwear, or even naked !when i tried that at the theater, they got REALLY upset and made me leave.........

I like the idea of going to the movies. When I really want to immerse myself into the experience I go to the movies. There is just something about being in the dark, surrounded by the sound, the big screen...

Re: movies...theater, dvd, or cable tv?
Since my TV broke five months ago and I just recently paid to get the silly thing fixed, I have to say I rarely watch the Dish anymore. We go to the movies a lot, but it's always such a let down if the movie sucks - been to a few of those lately. We tend to spend a lot of time just cuddling together in bed watching our combined DVD collection. I'll bring some over to watch and sometimes we watch his. Last weekend was Gladiator, Brave Heart and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. How's that for range? Plus there's the added bonus of being able to get really close if you want since you're not in a public place - and that wonderful pause button if you choose to pursue your other interests
