returns and exchanges
With the holidays behind us now, how many of you made a point of returning a gift or several that just weren't you kind of thing? Have you found out later that a gift you gave was returned and exchanged for something else? Have there been times when you didn't want the person who gave you the gift to know you didn't like it or had a use for it and exchanged it?
I'm kinda weird about it, I just don't feel comfortable exchanging a gift. I won't return something because I don't like it or it's the most butt ugly thing I've ever seen, I just love the idea of keeping the original gift that someone I care about, went through the trouble of choosing for me, even if it's something gawd awful and useless, I'll display it proudly in my home, or wear out in public...the only time I have ever exchanged anything is if its the wrong size.

You're so sweet chazz.
I'm a bitch. I take it back or get what it is that I know I could use.

Naw would never do that, but I've been known to wrap it up and give it to someone else.

Re: returns and exchanges
some body in my family always get "the picture", a ugly painting that was given to my mom by her aunt for a wedding present...i guess that this is a way of keeping it in the family..lol. i would rather get a "re-gift" than no gift at all...or a re-used card...seriously...my sister gave her ex's brother a used card, complete with MY signature...

Oprah says you shouldn't regift but I've done that a time or two...
We do the "White Elephant" exchange in our family and it is a blast, you can bring something new...something old you aren't using...one year my nephew brought a "gently used" bra that he found in his laundry after a party at his apartment. My sixty-five year old Mom ended up with it and we all laughed until we cried.

Re: returns and exchanges
I never return any gifts, because the only gifts that I get are from the "White Elephant" like Juils was talking about. Other than that, I just try to make Christmas about my kids, and the rest is spending time with loved ones. This way, you never have to worry about taking something back, or re-gifting.

Re: returns and exchanges
I think regifting is fine, especially because you know others would enjoy it more. Why spend money to buy something else they won't like
As for returning - well honestly I am just too lazy to do that.

Do a Google search...I read one that has a whole page of rules to follow. I think it was on the web-site, "About"...
