aptitude
Do you feel you're in the right business or have the right job...or do you have the aptitude for something else other than what you currently do for a living?

Re: aptitude
I like what I do. It took years to get as many loyal customers as I do. I stay busy year round, & do no advertising. I liked flying jets for the Air Force better, but my C.O. said the time had come when I was too old to fly High Risk missions. So now I do what I do.

Re: aptitude
sure... i get bored real easy when i feel i've learned the majority of something so i dont ever see myself in anything too long.. just hop to the next related field and learn something new. LOL
but i've got the training/schooling/certifications to pretty much be employed in any engineering/surveying/construction business.

Re: aptitude
I love what I do, being self employed has it's pressures but there's nothing like seeing a job through, from start to finish. As NRG said, it does take a long time to build a loyal customer base, but if your doing your job right, it will happen.

I always thought I would be a better prostitute than I am a kitchen remodeling contractor.
I should try at least.

Re: aptitude
It was the right time for me start doing my job. Before I didn't have the right attitude for it. I would have gotten in so much trouble with my big mouth. Now I have pension to look forward to. At least I started at the right time, after 5 years I'm fully vested in the pension plan, those who started 2 months after me, have to wait 10 years.

Re: aptitude
i love my work as a cook...however i have wanted to expand my horizons just a little and open a restaurant of my own...if i could just come up with some serious $$$$$ funds....and i think i'd need some schooling on restaurant management...need $$$$ for that too, i guess...
i have tried other types of jobs, yet always seem to go back to kitchen work....

Re: aptitude
I had a job I hated and quit...I've been plannning events for a number of years and I love it because each event has new challenges. I do have a rule of thumb...NEVER...
EVER...plan a wedding unless it is for someone you love...brides and their mothers will suck the life out of you...

Re: aptitude
For twenty years I was in Shipping/Receiving (all braun, no brains). I was going to get laid off eventually, but when the next came up, I volunteered. Now I'm in school, on the states dime, learning how to get the career I always wanted, Web-Design...
