What do you find is the best way to get to know ppl?
What do you find is the best way to get to know ppl? i know some perfer chat rooms and other through emails. ive myself talked to many but thats about as far as it goes. rookies like me sometimes seem to get lost in the frey of things.

The forums are where I really get to know most people...I can read and respond to them at my lesiure, and not have ot set aside a block of time like I would for the chatroom, I respond more quickly to private messages from people I recognize from the forums, I just feel I already know them even if we haven't exchanged Private message yet, and they just don't seem like a stranger to me.
I often iniate contact with someone who I have seen active in the forums just for that reason...I feel I already know them!

I'm with Chazzy. I usually keep to the forums, but every once in awhile I'll get into chat. I think that you can get to know someone pretty well in the forums. I will respond to most PM's, if they are in good taste.

assuming its online... i'd say IM is always the best way to get to know someone, a little of their character shines through. just to casually meet someone the forums outweigh anything else... if you've interacted in the same forums with someone even if not directly with that individual i've always gotten a response when i went the next step and said hello privately.
problem is the forum is usually populated with the people who are like myself more interested in a little entertainment than actual in the flesh meet'n'greet. (mind you there are exceptions and quality ones at that) guess it depends on your motives.

If you see someones profile and you like the look of them, a friendly hello usually does the trick. I will always reply to any message i get from anyone, and always be friendly

you need to expose yourself as much as possible. go to the chat rooms, post in the forums, get your name out there.

Exactly! The more active and visible you are here, the more you will be seen as friendly and familiar, and much less of a "stranger".
People who post regulary in the forums are more apt to get a reply when they send out private messages.
