I remember when he played a crazy General(I think it was a General anyway) that was just passing through in an earlier episode of Mash and later they brought him back as a different character(Colonel Potter). That happened a lot in those days.I always liked him. He has been in so many movies and TV shows through the years.May he rest in peace......

Re: Rest In Peace
Cheetah the chimpanzee, Tarzan film star, dies aged 80
Cheetah the chimpanzee who starred in the Tarzan movies of the early 1930s has died at the age of 80, it has been announced.
The Suncoast Primate Sanctuary in Palm Harbour, Florida, said Cheetah died of kidney failure on Dec 24.
Debbie Cobb, director of the sanctuary, said that in his retirement the chimp had loved finger painting and seemed particularly attuned to human feelings.
He came to the sanctuary from the estate of the star of the Tarzan series - American Olympic gold medal swimmer Johnny Weissmuller - during the early 1960s.
Based on the works of author Edgar Rice Burroughs, the Tarzan stories - which have spawned scores of books and films - chronicle the adventures of a man who was raised by apes in Africa.
Cheetah provided comic relief in the Tarzan films, often clowning around with his human co-stars.
Ron Priest, a sanctuary volunteer, said: "When he didn't like somebody or something that was going on, he would pick up some poop and throw it at them. He could get you at 30 feet [9m] with bars in between."
Chimpanzees in zoos typically live 35 to 45 years but Cheetah was cited in The Guinness Book of Records as the world's oldest non-human primate. He outlived both Weissmuller and the actress Maureen O'Sullivan, who played Jane.

Re: Rest In Peace
There seems to be some debate as to if this Chimp was the actual chip from the Tarzan films. They were discussing it on the news last night. This is the third claim to be "THE" chimp from the movies. Either way a chimp has passed away.

Several chimpanzees were used in the filming of the "Tarzan" movies and subsequent films, during a period when the primates were widely used in Hollywood and often mistreated.
Is this so surprising?

Re: Rest In Peace
The chimp came to the sanctuary from the estate of Johnny Weismuller; who played Tarzan. While they may have used multiple chimps, it would seem this chimp was of significance if Weismuller himself had possession of it.

Re: Rest In Peace
Side note:Johnny Weismuller actually taught my uncle to swim.
The story the news anchors were talking about is that there have been several claims that the chimp that was the one that Weismuller owned and was the primary Cheetah has been made at least three times. So they can not confirm at this point if this was the "real" one or not. Back then the records were not as good as they are now. I don't think they ever expected the animals to be such a big issue. There were several Lassie's as well as just about every animal in every show or movie. If for nothing else they do that because animals can be temperamental and there are laws about how long they can work and in what conditions as well. Although I am pretty sure most of those laws were not on the books yet at the time the Tarzan movies were made.

Bob Anderson of West Sussex, UK, died on Sunday at the age of 89. He was a master fencer who taught lessons while serving in the Royal Marines, then represented his country at the 1952 Olympics. Anderson went on to develop a reputation as champion, both as a fencer and as a choreographer of on-screen sword fights. Most famously, he donned the mask of Darth Vader and wielded a lightsaber in all three original Star Wars movies

Gary Carter, Hall of fame pitch has died.I happen to know a bit about him personally and I can honestly say the world has lost a nice person who cared for others and did what he could to help those less fortunate. He will be missed I know I think more about what he did off the baseball field than on and he was a hard working nice man.Hoe sad he had to leave us so soon.

I was rushing and realized I put pitcher and signed in as soon as I came home but knew someone would correct me. I knew him from a family member off the field through his charity work FYI. He did so much it was amazing. It's a shame good people have to suffer. His baseball career made him famous but his off the field stuff made him special.
But I deserved that for not checking myself before I hit enter and leaving. But It's funny I knew I would catch hell over it. lol I actually have a beautiful poster that was done in a Norman Rockwell style picture of him and he autographed it to my son as a gift when he was born. I used to have it hanging in his room. At least I knew he played baseball. We have another friend I knew for years and didn't know what he played or what position. Finally he met my kids to talk to them about dreams and sports and I learned about his career. Yeah I guess that isn't the top of our list in the conversation list.lol
