years old.... the music world will miss him.
He was a great artist... I love that song. Him and his music will be missed
His club is just up the highway from my house, he was a great guy and will be missed for sure

Carlin was such a visionary. He saw the ridiculous and funny in everyday situations and made sure we realized it. His observations were right on and always made you laugh. He always kept it funny.
I became aware of him when I was about 19 or 20. I saw him in concert back then when he was still doing some of his early routines such as "the hippy-dippy weatherman". That's as much a classic routine as his "seven dirty words".
He was one of a kind!

Don LaFontaine - the man whose distinctive deep, husky voice is instantly recognisable as the film trailer man, has died. He was aged 68.
LaFontaine provided his distinctive vocal talents on over 5,000 trailers including The Terminator. His most famous catchphrase was "In a world where..." - a line he used at the start of many trailers that he worked on.
He died on Monday in LA from complications due to an ongoing lung related illness.
A former audio engineer didn't begin his voice over career until 1965 when an announcer failed to show up for a recording session. As he become more busy he began to work from a home studio - dubbed "The Hole" by his wife Nita Whitaker. He would have scripts delivered by fax.

They were doing a tribute to him on classic country saturday night on one of our local radio stations. That was the first I had heard. Very sad, indeed.....

Re: Rest In Peace
NEW YORK (CNN) -- After spending nearly 28 years in an irreversible coma, heiress and socialite Martha "Sunny" von Bulow died Saturday in a New York nursing home, according to a family statement. She was 76.
Von Bulow was subject of one of the nation's most sensational criminal cases during the 1980s.
Her husband, Claus, was accused of trying to kill her with an overdose of insulin, which prosecutors alleged sent her into the coma.
He was convicted of making two attempts on her life, but the conviction was overturned on appeal. He was acquitted in a second trial.
His retrial in 1985 received national attention.

With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week. Larry LaPrise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Pokey", died peacefully at age 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started.

Re: Rest In Peace
'Magic Fingers Vibrating Bed' inventor dies at 92
MIAMI -- The inventor of the "Magic Fingers Vibrating Bed," a coin-operated fixture in American motel rooms in the 1960s and 70s, has died in Florida.
John Joseph Houghtaling (HUFF-tay-ling) was 92. His son Paul says the inventor died Wednesday at his home in Fort Pierce.
Tinkering in the basement of his New Jersey home, Houghtaling invented the "Magic Fingers" machine in 1958. It caused beds to vibrate when a quarter was dropped in the device.
He moved the company to Miami in 1968 and remained its president until he retired in the 1980s.
The kitschy devices made their way into pop culture - celebrated in song by Jimmy Buffett and Frank Zappa and the cause of a beer explosion in the movie "Planes, Trains and Automobiles."
