Lee Marshall, one of the actors who supplied the booming voice of Tony the Tiger in commercials, has died. He was 64.
His son, Jason VanBorssum, tells the Los Angeles Times that Marshall died of esophageal cancer on April 26 at a Santa Monica hospital.
Marshall began voicing the Kellogg's Frosted Flakes mascot in 1999, filling in for the original actor, Thurl Ravenscroft.
Marshall got his first full-time radio job at the age of 14 in Phoenix. He had a prematurely deep voice and lied about his age. His career included radio newsman, rock 'n' roll disc jockey, sports broadcaster and wrestling ring interviewer.
A little unknown, however, I grew up on the original voice mascot.

former Major League Baseball star Tony Gwynn (he played right field for the San Francisco Padres from 1982 until he retired in 2001) has died at age 54. he was one of the best hitters in the history of the game.

Just saw that Jerry Goffin has passed away at the age of 75. He and then wife Carol King wrote many classic songs in the 60's and 70's such as Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow and Locomotion.

Legendary Blues guitarist Johnny Winters died in Zurich, Switzerland. one of him most famous traits was that he (along with his brother Edgar) were both Albino. his big break was in 1968, when Rolling Stone Magazine declared him the hottest musician (outside of Janis Joplin) the cause of death is still under investigation, but appears to be some sort of medical issue.

The 86-year-old Garner, who was found dead of natural causes at his Los Angeles home on Saturday, was adept at drama and action. But he was best known for his low-key, wisecracking style, especially on his hit TV series, "Maverick" and "The Rockford Files."

now we lost johnny winter...
On Sunday August 3rd at 11am we said goodbye to one who was many things to so many people; a loving husband, a brother, a friend, and bandmate. As one of the greatest guitarist in the world was laid to rest.

Robin Williams found dead in his home. he was 63 years old, the cause of death is still under investigation, but it appears to be a suicide.

HBO aired Dead Poets Society in honor of Robin Williams.I couldn't believe I actually cried at the end when they all stood on the desk. And the fact that that movie dealt with suicide was something that I bet many people forgot.
The loss of two greats in such a short time.Old Hollywood really is almost all gone or maybe all gone. I don't know if any of the "Old Hollywood" greats are still alive. Lauren Bacall might have been the last.And Robin Williams was one of a kind that I don't think anyone can compare too.I don't think dimming the lights of Broadway are enough on a day like this. I think 2 bulbs went out on Entertainment that can never be replaced.Sad...

Richard Kiel who played 'Jaws' in Bond movies, "Happy Gilmore" also played in Burt Reynolds "The Longest Yard" has died at 74.
and i forgot to mention her earlier, but singer Simone Battle apparently committed suicide on early Sunday morning, she was a part of the all female pop group GRL. they have a song inthe top 20 right now called "Ugly Heart", and had a hit with Pitbull called "Wild, Wild Love" look it up on Youtube if you've never heard of them. they are kinda good.

Legendary fashion designer Oscar de la Renta, who spent half a century putting high society in haute couture, has died. He was 82.
The man -- often described as the "sultan of suave" -- dressed every first lady since Jacqueline Kennedy. Among those whose glamor factor his dresses jazzed up: Oprah Winfrey, Anne Hathaway and, most recently, George Clooney's bride Amal Alamuddin.
The cause of his death, announced by close family friends and industry colleagues, was not immediately clear. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2006, but said last year he was "totally clean."
"The only realities in life are that you are born, and that you die," he told an audience at New York's 92Y "Fashion Talks" series in June 2013. "We always think we are going to live forever. The dying aspect we will never accept. The one thing about having this kind of warning is how you appreciate every single day of life."
And what a life he lived.
"He was a true, true gentlemen, in the truest sense of the word -- a real bright light -- and this is just a terrible, terrible loss for the fashion world," said Alina Cho, fashion journalist and editor at large at Random House.
