Lee Dorman -- the bassist for the acid rock band Iron Butterfly -- was found dead at his home in Orange County, CA earlier today ... TMZ has learned.
70-year-old Dorman was an original member of the group -- and played during their famous 17 minute recording of the rock classic "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida."
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... officers responded to Dorman's home around 10 AM this morning ... and he was found sitting in his car.
We're told cops do not believe there is anything suspicious about his death.
Dorman reportedly had a history of heart problems -- and according to some reports, the medical issue forced him to retire from music.

Re: Rest In Peace
He was also a great guy and known for walking around saying "How am I doin?". He truly loved NYC to his soul. He was liked even by people who didn't agree with his political views. When asked if he would come back into office he would joke "Oh no..you voted me out now you are stuck with what you got." He also refused to answer any questions regarding his sexuality because as he put it "I will not give an answer to a question that should never be asked of any politician. That would legitimize the question and I refuse to do that." I laughed at the interview when someone asked if he was gay and he answered by asking the guy when the last time he gave his partner oral sex . The guy answered the question and Koch said "That's the difference between you and me, I wouldn't answer such an inappropriate question." lol

Roger Ebert, 1942-2013
Famed movie critic Roger Ebert died Thursday in Chicago after battling cancer. He was 70.
An opinionated writer, but also a movie fan, Ebert reviewed films for the Chicago Sun-Times for 46 years. He was perhaps best known, however, for his 31 years reviewing films on television.
Ebert experienced health problems over the past ten years, suffering illnesses including thyroid cancer and cancer of the salivary gland. In 2006, although, he lost part of his lower jaw, it didn't drive him out of the spotlight.

Margaret Thatcher, the first woman ever to serve as prime minister of Great Britain and the longest-serving British prime minister of the 20th century, has died at age 87.
"It is with great sadness that Mark and Carol Thatcher announced that their mother Baroness Thatcher died peacefully following a stroke this morning."
During her long career on the political stage, Thatcher was known as the Iron Lady. She led Great Britain as prime minister from 1979 to 1990, a champion of free-market policies and adversary of the Soviet Union.
