TVland
Whatcha got? Dish satellite, cable, or one of those old, nearly obsolete antennas ?
Do you just get the basic deal, what kind of dish or cable package do you have? Do you pay for any additional channels that you just gotta have, and what are some of your favorite channels? Are there any you don't have, but would love to? Do you often or once in awhile dole it out for a pay-for-view?
How many channels do you currently have going on for your idiot box?

Re: TVland
Direct TV for me. Ive had it for about 5 years now. And except for an occasional torrential rainstorm that may block the satellite, Ive had no problems with it. And my tivo is one of the best things ever. I never miss anything I want to see. I only have the basic package which still gives me WAY more channels than the basic cable packages. However, when The Sopranos come back on, I'll order HBO and then cancel it when their season is through.

Re: TVland
2 of the old antennas...one pointing in each direction. If ya get 25 channels anyway..why pay to see hundreds of channels with more morons on it.

Re: TVland
direct tv. i don't believe in hbo - they always play shitty shows like joe and the volcano. out of all the millions of great movies that could be shown they always seem to shove the shitty ones in front of us. just not worth the $

Re: TVland
I've just got a basic cable package, but I would just love to have the History Channel added!
Most of the time, the TV is tuned into the A&E or Discovery Channel...

Gotta agree Liz, HBO sucks. Unless you're into boxing, which I'm not. Last time I ordered it for the Sopranos, I couldn't believe that Mr Mom was on like 5 times that month!

Rabbit Ears... On a good day I get four channels...,but I collect DVD's. I've got just over 400 of those suckers. Could watch them end over end for 3 months straight and never see the same one twice...

Re: TVland
freeview here, not sure what the US equivalent is, but it's free-to-watch digital channels that come in through your ordinary ariel, but are decoded by a wee digital box and sppear on your tv in wonderful widescreen and high quality. Not HD, but better than standard american quality by miles!
Not that I watch TV, you understand, I just watch the odd film thats on, and I come by any decent tv serises (lost, 24 and the like) by other means

Re: TVland
Extended analog cable. 76 channels is enough for me and there is a lot of stuff for the DVD player and (gasp) the VCR.
I'm waiting for HD sets to get cheaper. There is still a few years until digital becomes mandatory here and I may just opt for the converter box. Cable comes with my apartment and I see no reason to pay $75 a month for lots more shopping channels on digital cable and the pay-per-view "junk"

Re: TVland
i hope that no one here works for my cable company, 'cuz i'm gettin' my cable for free...when i moved in here it was already hooked up, but i called them and let them know that i was receiving them with out paying for them...i told them i was probably going to switch to digital cable anyways...
but then i realized that i can't really afford it...they haven't shut it off yet...been here since august, eventually i suppose i should get something legally.
i can only get cable or dish network in this building.
please do not call the TV COPS on me !!! lol

Re: TVland
I have Direct TV and TIVO with it.......Since I have had the TIVO (now for about 5 years) I have a hard time watching TV without it.... They recently added xm stations to it, so at night I will just put on a music channel to fall to sleep to......Hey, I might be losing my house, but I still have TV....

Re: TVland
However we did just get a flat screen HDTV. Really cool, so I had to go get one of those HD antenna's. It's so so, get a lot of pauses in the reception, but when it does come in, its great. Didn't even know that there where so many HD channels for free. We still have the rabbit ears hooked up.
