Daily rant
Something "got your goat"....something on your mind....just gotta get off your chest?
Vent! Vent! Vent!
(just keep abs's rules in mind, no politics, no religous discussions and no personal attacks on other members...ah you know....)
My rant for today....AmerenUE...it's the electric utility supply for this terriority and you may have seen the stories on them on CNN...they suck!!
Last year, a huge resovior they had near a gorgeous state park, broke...a billion gallons of water rushed out in the middle of the night, and washed away a house with one woman and her three children sleeping inside...just imagine the horror of being washed away from your bed, not knowing WTF is happening, don't know where your children are!!!
The family was hospitalized but survived, and the state park won't have it's natural beauty back for decades...and it's Ameren's bad engineering, and "too cheap" to do the proper maintenaince that's the blame.
Three storms this year have left 10 of thousands of homes without power for up to 2 weeks at a time, and each time, people have suffered, fell ill, and even died from it...
When the consumers finally say they've shown enough patience with them, Ameren tries to shift the blame back on them.
Yeah, the say they'll see about making some changes but they are suggesting a $2.00 a day price rate increase for us! Figure that up by the week, month, and year!
Oh they do their civic thing, payments plans for the lower income famiiies, but if there's a stockholder meeting coming up soon, and they want to impress those stockholders with a big ass bottom line, they will call in your "IOU" and demand payment, threaten you with disconection if you don't drive miles away, and plop down the entire amount due all within a short period of time!
AmerenUE sucks...
That's my rant for today....I'm sure someone else has something rufflin' their feathers as well....let 'er rip!

I'm planning my daughter's Christmas party at school and one of the other mothers went to the teacher and told her she thought I may be "in over my head" and that I hadn't contacted her to help out...perhaps because I don't need any help!!! Then I came around the corner and she was talking about me to another mother...and not only was she complaining that I was going to "dump" everything on her at the last minute but she was talking about how I'm a working mom and that I blew into the school with my high heels clicking and my suits acting better than everyone else...Of course I let her know very politely that I wouldn't be dropping the ball on her and that I'd call her soon about the cupcakes she had volunteered to make.
What she doesn't know is that a huge part of my job is as an Event Planner...I plan events for 50 to 5,000 and I'm pretty certain I can handle and elementary school Christmas party. So, now I'm going over the top for this party...Santa will be there, a balloon twister, etc. I think the worst part of it is that my intentions for this party were from the kindness of my heart and now I feel like I have to prove to this nutcase that just because I work I can be a great Mom too...and one of my pet peeves in this world is people making judgements on others without even knowing a person!!!
OK...that's my rant!!!

Juilianna, sounds like she feels seriously inadequate alongside you on several levels. That's her problem. Let us know when this all comes together for you and while everyone else is enjoying treats & refreshments, she'll be eating a big helping of crow. I don't know how vindictive she may be, but I'd steer clear of her cupcakes!

It is today tung...and I'll let you know how it goes...as for the cupcakes...they may look a bit inadequate next to the cookies I had professionally decorated with each of the kids names on them...oops...am I bad? It is so good to have contacts that come through for you in a big way!!!

I always find it interesting and entertaining how ingeniously and creatively the fairer sex handles these situations. Guys don't have the imagination or the subtlety. One walks away with a black eye and the other with a bloody nose.

Tung is right, Julianna...this poor woman, as obnoxious and toxic as she is...is just a sad person with a low opinion of her own self worth...I'm sure she has a history or even a current situation that makes her so intimidated, so jealous, so frightened(so damn mean!) I kinda feel for her(and others like her) they are miserable people, they lose sleep, they cry allot, they are constantly feeling like they are being judged and feel they must impress to feel alive and worthwhile, they miss out on so much just trying to make themselves feel that they have some human value, they often just go about it in a very sad misguided way...

My rant is, i teach very badly behaved kids, i usually get complete respect off them, but today three of them were very disrespectful so i refused to have them with me in church while the school practiced its xmas service. They followed with the deputy head, and were really badly behaved. All the school got to go outside for 20 minutes before home time. Just because the boys sang one song at the back of the church, whilst drawing in books, another member of staff allowed them the same treat. Me being very out spoken, told them how unhappy i was!!

Isn't it funny how we all have the tendency to "keep up with the Jones's" occassionally...planning parties that sometimes are out of our means in order to impress....Julianna maybe this is normal for the lady you spoke about...maybe she ordinarily is in control of these types of functions at school and elsewhere and just wants to be a part of her childs Christmas party.

maybe so mikawantsu but its part of her job...but it does seem she lacks confidence and self esteem...very sad really since all that is in our own control

As I see it...you were the one who was willing to inconvience yourself by loving the children enough to try to teach them something valuable(to behave and be respectful)and not take the easy way out and just give in to them, knowing that would just reinforce thier bad behavior.
Very good for you! You tried to give the little stinkers what they needed, not what they wanted!

amen to that!! life isn't 100% of anything..especially when dealing with something so fickle as another human being.

I certainly didn't mind her helping, I had talked to her on three separate occassions prior to her going to the teacher, my problem was that she was telling all the other mom's that because I was a working mom I was going to "drop the ball" and the kids were going to have a terrible party because I was in over my head. I make the choice not to judge someone, especially prior to getting to know them or what they are capable of...

Party Update-
The party was absolutely wonderful, the kids had smiles from ear to ear and with the exception of one very hot Santa Claus (80 degrees today) everything was perfect. The laughter was deafening and I must admit it was much more satisfying to plan an event for my baby girl than you can imagine...her blue eyes were illuminated through the whole event and I can't tell you how much it meant to her...they are only little once and I was able to capture a little time capsule of magic for her...what a great day!!!

The cupcake lady did have to eat a bit of crow, but not at my hand...LOL...by the kids teacher. Ms. Bryant was standing right next to "cupcake lady" and said, "That was the best party I've had for my kids in the thirty years I've been teaching, you are so talented." I smiled and said, "I couldn't have done it without all the help from the other parents bringing all the food." Cupcake lady kept her chin tucked down as I thanked everyone for their assistance. Funny how remaining kind to those that are ugly to you is always the right thing to do...now if she had messed with one of my kids...watch out!!!

In Massachusetts, the other day, a woman, who had her vanity plate revoked, because it could be confused as a swear. Her plate read, "STFUP". She said it was a tribute to a dead friend. Her friend was always heard saying, "Smiles Today, Friday's Up" but folks around here think it could say, "Shut The Fuck Up". Boy, talk about pleasing the masses. I should take all the vanity plates and make them out to be dirty sayings and send them in. This could be it's own thread...

I've helped out with so many school functions. If someone else wants to take the wheel, by all means, go for it! Juilianna, why don't you move to my town.... just make sure you request that your child be in the same class as mine.. every year!

I'm so glad your party was a success Juilianna...seems little ones don't get enough of the magic nowadays...would have loved to seen her little eyes all lit up...and I must commend you on your attitude by commending the other parents, they'll never doubt you again and those kids, not just your daughter, now have a memory of a lifetime!!

Work makes you feel dumb, especially if you're pregnant... I mean the girls I work with (3 of them are pregnant) and they make them feel very disabled in the dept we work in and they're not even showing yet!!
Don't know if I want to be around for something like that if I was in their shoes.
