Stay out of my kitchen!!!
How many of you think you can cook, bake, etc?
Are you the chef type from "Hell's Kitchen" or are you one of those that freaks out if the thought of someone asking you to make something for an occasion?

Re: Stay out of my kitchen!!!
Just found out, once again, now that I cannot make cookies. Instead of it turning out to be all dreamy-like, you know the kind, big.. round.. fluffy.. tasty but instead it comes out flat, spreaded out and burnt.
Yep, time for me to retire.

I love to cook and I think I'm fairly good at it. What I hate is trying to rush home every evening to cook a meal for my family after work. Sundays are cooking days at my house, I try to cook a weeks worth of food so we can just come home throw on some vegetables, pasta or rice to add to whatever it is I made that weekend...
As for freaking out, my friends depend on me to do the cooking when we get together , they bring the booze and I bring the food.

Re: Stay out of my kitchen!!!
It was actually bad enough for me that last year while trying to make my son's birthday cake, it came out burnt and all hard like, that my step-mom had a cake ready just in case I messed up.
Felt really small when calling her up about it.

I love to bake but I don't decorate cakes, my sister does that for me. I like baking breads, other types of cakes, etc.
I burnt my fair share when I started out...practice makes perfect.

I love to cook and I do very well at it. I don't mind letting someone else use my kitchen, but put it back (whatever you use that is) where you found it and if you run me out of something, write it down on my fridge, lol, so I can buy more!
I will go to my MIL's house and if she cooks, I clean, but in my home, I cook, I clean, you cook, I clean. hmmmm, I just realized that....I guess I am picky about my kitchen, lol!

Re: Stay out of my kitchen!!!
I'm an excellent cook and love doing it. However the kinds of things that I make are specialty things, mostly with an Italian flair. Theres very few things I make that doesn't include olive oil and garlic. When I invite people for dinner, they'll usually request a favorite for me to make, which is really flattering to me. My oldest daughter lives in Colorado and already has a list of things she wants me to make for her when she comes home for Christmas. In fact last year for Christmas, I made a book of all my recipes and gave them as gifts. I know it may sound a bit narcissistic, but it was appreciated. I doubt that it got used though because if anyone went to use it, they'd see my yap on the front cover and probably lost their appetite.

I guess if I was thinking about lilshelby I would burn quite alot of things as well. Hell for that matter, I would burn everything if I was thinking of both of you. mmmmmmmmm but what a wonderful meal you two would make.

Biker, maybe your oven temp is all out of whack. Get a good oven themometer, and see what's what. Or, ask for in-home lessons from your favorite baker. I have recommendations.

Tropi is a pretty mean man in the kitchen.
not much i can't cook but i hate baking...i usually eat the cookie dough before i can put it on the pan and bake the cookies...too good..
specialty dish is paella or seafood jambalaya.
for the most part i don't do recipes...nope...just fling in whatever moves me. the fun part is the creativity....cooking can be so creative...and women luv it.
creative in the kitchen...creative in the bedroom..

Re: Stay out of my kitchen!!!
I pride myself on cooking. I usually do the cooking on weekends while my wife takes care of the remainder of the week. When it comes to barbecuing I am the one who handles it on any day of the week. My wife won't go near the barbecue. It scares her but she loves barbecue prepared food as long as she doesn't have to go near the thing. I have several tasty dishes that I prepare and a couple of very tasty desserts as well, [not including me, lol]. I offer my special dessert later in the evenings, if you know what I mean.
