Not sure of the best gift I have recieved. I like to help people all year. Mostly friends that is and some others too :D I find giving without any reason the most rewarding thing to do for me.

Exactly Moon, it doesn't have to be a material gift...
Many years ago, right around the holidays, my husband was at a gas station and an elderly woman was counting out her change to get gas in her car so she could go to church the next day...as he stood watching her count out the money he motioned to the attendant that he wanted to pay to have her car filled up. The attendant said, if you are paying to fill it up, I'll pump it for her so he ran outside to fill up her car with gas. My husband walked outside to give the attendant the money and as he opened the door of his truck the attendant saw his Santa costume...he volunteered to be Santa every year for kids at the chilren's hospital. The attendant said, "Oh My God, you are Santa."

Re: Best Christmas Gift Ever...
10 years ago my closest friend gave birth to a beautiful little girl...Annie, sadly it turned out that she was severely disabled as well as deaf and partially sighted. She was a sunny little girl, always happy and her smile could light up the room. I used to spend a lot of time with her and the two of us became great pals...i adored her company.
When she was 7 the special needs class asked her to make a christmas present for her favourite friend.
On christmas morning she handed me a box, her little face beaming up at me.
I was told i had to read the message first...The box was wrapped in her favourite cartoon character paper,,,Snow white,,,and a white silky ribbon wrapped around it, the message read
Here is a very precious gift
That you can never see
The reason its so special is,
Its just for you from me
Whenever you are lonely
Or feel a little blue
You only have to hold this gift
To know i think of you
You never should unwrap it
Leave the ribbon tied,
Please hold this box close to your heart
Its filled with love inside.
Sadly she passed away 18 months later,,,,,and that box will never ever leave me.
So, without a doubt my most precious and best christmas present ever - a simple empty box - which is priceless.

Re: Best Christmas Gift Ever...
Thanks NRG...but truthfully, every day I have happiness. I just take the bad with the good. Life is a beautiful place to be, without the rain, the sun wouldn't feel so darn good on my face!!! Every experience in life has its upside and its downside, how we face it depends on if we make the choice to be standing looking it in the face, lying down letting it roll over us, or on our knees asking God for His help...I attribute my life to a little standing and alot of kneeling.

Re: Best Christmas Gift Ever...
My best Christmas gift ever, was being a Griswald, with all my Christmas decorations, and I would dress up like Santa Clause, and let all the neighborhood children, and anyone passing by with their children have a picture with Santa. We had bought one of those One Step cameras so they could take it with them. And to see the excitement on the childrens faces was all I could ever ask for.

Re: Best Christmas Gift Ever...
Years ago when my husband and I had just purchased our first house and we were poor as church mice we had agreed that we would not buy each other gifts. But on Christmas Day, he had evidently been stashing spare change away, he gave me tickets to see my favorite singer in concert. You would have thought he gave me the most beautiful piece of jewelry on the planet...years later who would have thought I would end up in Nashville late one night drunk in her driveway? Thank you Victoria (limo driver) for not leaving me there...LOL.

Re: Best Christmas Gift Ever...
I can't think of any best gift that I have received but I can certainly think of one that I want this year. The best Christmas present for me would be for my loved one to recover from her injuries and for her to be able to function normally again.

Would have to be Christmas 1980. Got four sets of studded snow tires for my old 1976 Jeep. I scared a lot of unsuspecting children with the added traction...
